That is awesome news. Congratulations bro. There is something great about the feeling if owning where you sleep. This little piece of dirt in the earth is mine. It’s a great feeling.

I owned a home for over 15 years. Changed life and the wife and I moved halfway across the nation to be happier. For five months we didn’t own a home. It was terrifying.

I’m super happy for you and a huge congrats to you!!!

What a way to get there. But accomplishing goals is always good. Congratulations.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Did they just let you out of the mental hospital???

That's a very, very weird thing to say. There are taxes on everything. What do you think pays to maintain the streets to his house? Sewer and water lines to the house? Police? fire? etc. If he was renting the same house, he'd be paying the landlords mortgage and taxes and rent would go up every year and a landlord could tell him to move out with a month(s) notice. I own my house outright and without giving an exact value, it costs me as much (taxes, insurance, maintenance) as the rent on an efficiency worth 1/7th of my homes value.

Congratulations. Never mind the tax naysayers. Everybody pays taxes, even renters. Wink

LOL

I can take the snark (why you'd snark on my happiness is beyond me, but I digress...) but this is essentially entering politics into a non political thread.

Don't get my thread locked, bro!

Ronin,

Wasn't meant as a dig or attempt to harsh your good times about the home. My apologies to you along with a heart felt congratulations.

Congrats. I remember the feeling. I was the first person in my family to own a house and I was scared to death. Almost pulled out of the deal but a good friend convinced me to go forward. That was 18 years ago and very glad I did. Nothing like ownership, however big or small, to make you feel a sense of accomplishment. Good luck!
