Too old to run, too mean to quit! |
Our so-called judicial system stopped "working" back when they stopped using chain gangs. DA's are more willing to plea bargain than to actually prosecute. In my world, a prosecutor would be prosecuting each and every case to the full extent. And going for max sentences! The lace panty crowd has screwed up that part of our society, too. Elk There has never been an occasion where a people gave up their weapons in the interest of peace that didn't end in their massacre. I'm Platinum Elite with Marriott. I use the same hotel, so they have past, present and future reservations for me, all on the same business CC. I was a victim of CC fraud four or five years ago. $18K in a matter of hours. Didn't cost me much in the long run, but was a major PITA. P229

I primarily used Marriott, but also used Starwood for both business and personal. I merged my Starwood into my Marriott because I wanted the 22,000 points. I'm trying to enroll in their Free WebWatcher Enrollment, but it's slowwwww. Probably a metric shit ton of people signing up. Does this mean that Marriott isn’t going to keep calling me daily with that limited deal at a resort of my choice? Battlestar Galactica is getting ever more prescient. I’m in the same boat. That single scope investigation for TS/SCI grabs a lot of very detailed personal info and all OPM did is offer 3 yrs of credit reporting insurance. Very detailed personal information on your kids, family, work and other things/risks. Bullshit of the highest order. That’s gubberment for you. Now add in a career of staying at Marriotts. This to me is another episode of my information being compromised. It seems I get a letter at least once a year and most years twice from someone saying my information was part of a breach. Twice with OPM. “Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves.” ― Ronald Reagan Retired old fart

Ten or so years ago I did a big-ish software project for Starwood. They had 11,000 hotels worldwide at the time, spread across all of their brands. That's 3.42 metric shitloads.

Typically (and certainly in this case) they'd have cyber-insurance. It's for shit in terms of real coverage for damages, but it'll definitely cover contact clients and furnishing ID protection. ![]()

Yeah well, when you work for the feds and receive a letter from them informing you ALL your personal information from your SC has been hacked... But, you get a free year of credit monitoring! Woohoo I do wonder who monitors... lifelock? ________,_____________________________ Guns don't kill people - Alec Baldwin kills people. He's never been a straight shooter.

Below is an article about the service that OPM was nice enough to offer us after their HUGE screw up. I'm no longer enrolled, I retired from the ANG 10+ years ago and from DoD Civil Service two years ago. https://www.govexec.com/pay-be...ref=federal-news-all

Good news for me, as I've stayed at Marriott properties only: The guest reservation database that is involved was only used for Starwood reservations. Marriott uses a separate reservation system that is on a different network. Source: https://answers.kroll.com/ The link has additionl information about the breach.
