Yesterday we lost a team member. Israel "Izzy" Martinez just turned 27 years old and in a very short career, was quickly becoming a great officer. In the past year he is credited with saving three lives. One particular case last summer, he and I helped save a man that had been shot in the femoral artery. He was like a sponge, always wanting to learn, striving to better himself everyday. He had been trying out for SWAT and was working his ass off to make the team, but yesterday morning his younger sister, with whom he shared a two flat with, found him unresponsive.

Needless to say, we are saddened by his very untimely death, but I wanted to share his latest life saving story which is in the link below. I pray for peace and comfort to his family and friends. He will be missed. GOD Speed and RIP.

On 4/20/2021, the morning after funeral services, Israel's mother suffered a possible stroke and is currently in a medically induced coma at Rush Hospital. His mother is in her early fifties and was in excellent health before the tragic loss of her only son. Doctors believe she may have a cerebral aneurysm and emergency surgery will be required. A detail has been posted for the family. Any prayers for this family is greatly appreciated.

Rest in Peace, Brother.

A few of the officers in my Dist went through the academy with Officer Martinez, and have nothing but funny stories about him.
But it seems like that's always the case.
