Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
The bro wants another car. He has pretty much decided on a 2013+ GS350 AWD. I have been tasked to find him one particularly in Blue (seems to be the least available). So like with any Lexus these things just flat run forever with proper maintenance. I am Already a Lexus Owners website member so finding factory service records is no deal for me. But are there any quirks or known isssues that I should be looking out for in these while on my quest? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

I can’t speak for thd AWD model but the RWD models over multiple versions are excellent cars. With care you can own them for a very long time. My brother recently replaced his with another used one. The one he replaced had well over 300k on it. JC

Might be a generation before, but of the girls in my office has an '07 with something like 170k on it & has been relatively trouble free. Normal maintenance & wear/ tear items. The Enemy's gate is down.

I’ve owned two 2015 RWD versions, so can’t comment on anything specific to the AWD, but both have been great, reliable, comfortable, and fun cars - especially an F Sport in Sport S/S+ mode. I highly recommend them. SJS

I can't speak to the AWD version but I have a 2013 RWD with just under 100K on it and it has been an outstanding vehicle with no issues.

Stupid Allergy |
We owned a ‘13 GS F sport for awhile, before trading it on another LS 460. Very nice car and fun to drive, just not enough leg room for me. The back seats are tight also. "Attack life, it's going to kill you anyway." Steve McQueen...

We have a '14, 2wd, wife's daily driver with 88k miles. The windshield has had to be replaced/repaired a couple of times due to rock strikes. We bought it new, always dealer serviced, it really has been a great vehicle. I would buy another without hesitation. In fact we will probably buy an F-sport in a couple of years.

I have an F Sport AWD and I love, love, love, this car. It has been trouble free except for the door lock actuator motors. I've had to replace both sides in the front and the back left is starting to act up. If you go through the dealer you're looking at several hundred dollars per actuator. A little research and I found a replacement motor (just a little DC motor) for $12! JP

Victim of Life's Circumstances |
Definitely get awd if near any snow. I had a 2000 GS400 rwd for several years and it was an adventure a few times. I sold mine to one of my best friends and his wife still drives it daily. As to Lexus reliability, I drove a 96 LS400 for a few years and then sold it to a friend. He is still driving it and thanks me about every time we meet. ________________________ God spelled backwards is dog

I have a 2017 GS 350 with Luxury package. Before that, I had a 2003 GS430. Both purchased new. I love the GS series, they are not high volume sellers, so I feel like I am driving a vehicle that is somewhat unique. Especially with the luxury package, which I think is better than the F Sport package, and is fairly rare. Unfortunately, Lexus discontinued the Luxury package in the 2018 model year. I've had the 2017 since May 2017, and so far, it has been absolutely flawless. The 2003 only had normal wear and tear items, with two exceptions, and even the normal wear and tear items did not seem to happen as often as my other vehicles. The only two exceptions are the motor mounts, and the starter...But considering I had the GS430 for 14 years, that isn't bad, in my opinion... Assuming the GS you are looking at has been maintained properly and not abused, it will be very reliable and rock solid.

Eschew Obfuscation |
I had an 2008 GS350 AWD and sold it to buy a 2012 Audi A6. What a terrible idea. The GS350 was a great car. The only issue I had was the wheel rims oxidized or corroded (or something) and the tire started leaking air. Cost to have that fixed was $100. The A6 was fast but a pain (as in $$) to maintain. The Audi came with a maintenance package, but the first service bill after the package ended was convinced me to get rid of it. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell
