I have the same type and color of tile in my lavatory, no slippage with wet feet. My tile guy used a wet saw.

Ryobi 7 in. Overhead Wet Tile Saw https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ry...-Saw-WS731/206726939 SKU# 206726939 I should have added that this is basically the saw I have and that I did the floor below with it.

Yank that green vinyl out, doubt its asbestos as well. Fix any squeaks in sub floor, backer board (use ample amounts of screws) and then lay tile. I have a cheapo wet saw I bought from Lowes for about $70-80. It does everything I need outside of 24"x24" tiles. Would still work for them, but too many relief cuts would need to be made which just leads to waste of materials and time. Keep an eye on your toilet flange, may need a taller one. Tile work is fairly easy, it's the whole knees and back thing for the next couple of days that is the killer.

Thanks for the replies all! I ended up returning the dremel saw and getting a 7" Ryobi wet saw and some badass blades! (I had to.. the names were too cool and they got good reviews. I got a "beast" blade, and a "black widow" blade) I'm almost done cutting the tiles, the edges are WAY better than with the dremel tool, but still not "OEM" looking, even with the $50 blade, this is what I'm getting: Tonight I'll finish the cutting, tomorrow I'll rip up the green tile and secure the wood under it, then install the backer board (do I just cut that like I would drywall?), Thursday cement the tiles down and level (Amy advice on how to do that other than just using a 4' level), Friday grout, Saturday install toilet, sink, fixtures, etc. Sunday I leave for my honeymoon! And a few pictures Coming along: I'm getting away with doing the cutting in the basement which is nice since it's pretty chilly out. Hopefully all goes well the rest of the week! Thanks for all the help! Any other tips or tricks are always appreciated! ------------------------------------ 135 ├┼┼╕ 246R

All of your cuts should be covered by moulding so no worries there. I will tell you that drilling holes in porcelain sucks major donkey dick! The hole saw kit from Harbor Freight works but you need someone with a spray bottle of water there with you to keep the bit cool. Make sure you have a good 1/2" drill. I burned up my Craftsman mixing the mortar. I borrowed my brothers Dewalt and that did the job with out missing a beat. He paid $200 for it about 10 years ago. Make sure you have at least 3/4" of wood subfloor. We had to add 1/2" ply on top of what was there. I screwed the original sub down every 6" along the edges and on the joists. The sheets we put down on top are screwed every 6" on the edges and 12" spacing in the body of the sheets. Stagger your joints so they do not line up over the bottom layer. If your floor is not level, put leveler down before the backer board. Go with the fiber Hardie board and you can cut it with a utility knife. The concrete board is a pain in the ass and weighs a ton compared to the Hardie board. It is marked where to screw it down. Stagger these joints as well. Good luck!

For others... If you have a grinder, you can just buy a diamond wheel and use that, wetting it with a sponge. One of my guys at work, with many years experience in tile work, cuts them that way by choice/preference, and we have a tile wet saw. _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

well, she's coming along nicely! I probably could have saved money by paying someone to do the job with what I've spent in time, tools, etc. but I wanted to learn, so I consider it money well spent. last night I had to cut the backer board (cement board?), there were just two minor cuts that were going to take 60 seconds TOPS with the angle grinder. I grab the saw horses and start to head outside to cut the board.. Wife: "just cut it in the bedroom, it'll take two seconds" me: "this is cement board, if I cut it in the house it is going to make a MASSIVE mess, and you'll be cleaning up cement dust for days" Wife: "oh stop being so dramatic" me: "have it your way" ::Proceeds to cut the board in our bedroom:: Wife: "WTF!?!?!?! I can't even see the other side of the room it's so cloudy" Me: "I hate to say it but..." No pictures unfortunately, while all this was going on, I had my phone charging on the bed and out of the corner of my eye see it light up, then vertical lines start flashing, and now my screen doesn't work... apple store appt at 2pm. ------------------------------------ 135 ├┼┼╕ 246R
