Pigskin seems to do better when the work involves getting wet. However, for block, stone, or concrete work (and also for plugging together the gasketed pipe that you use a lube similar to tire soap for, like ADS culvert) the heavy duty concrete gloves are the way to go. I ran over (dumbass) one of the old black pair I had with the excavator while setting some 36" culvert and tore a finger so I had to go find a replacement. They had them in the tool crib area at the Home Despot. They were bright blue and I think they were marked as being PVC.
