Too old to run, too mean to quit! |
Our resident hawk is back. Have not seen her for some time. Don't know what kind she is, but has a tan colored breast/stomach and dark gray back. I would guess she is about 14-15 inches tall. She is the one who goes into the fish pond after frogs. Glad to see her. At least I think it is a "she" based on her size. My guess is a Cooper's Hawk. We have one hanging around our backyard, ever since I built a bird feeder for the Wife's Christmas present. They will even chase prey by running on the ground, an all purpose predator.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6joFfpIZ5Sc Not sure what he is eating but could be a mouse. This Coopers Hawk likes squirrel and when I catch one in the Havahart trap, I place him on top of one of the 4x4 fence posts at the garden. The squirrel is usually gone in one days time. 41
