bigpond732026 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
It's that time of the year again!
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is this Sunday, June 21st. Here is the website, which has a link to watch it live:
https://ppihc.org/I know one of the local tv/radio stations will be broadcasting live too, may be able to stream it, KRDO13 radio is 103.5 FM. I am sure there will be other live streaming on YouTube as well.
Saw Quattro15's wife being interviewed on TV last night, and explained to my wife who she was. One of seven women to compete this year.
Here's wishing all competitors and spectators a safe and fun weekend!

HRKIts one interesting race, the E-Cars are unreal quick since they don't lose power to the thinner air like a gas engine...

SigSentry^I remember the mass starts in the 70s. Lots of Bultacos and compound fractures.

stickman428Those racing up Pikes Peak are brave. We only got to go about 2/3 of the way up when we visited because of road conditions.
I’d love to be there for the Hill Climb. I bet it is a great experience.

Different category? They don't 'compete' against the ICE cars?

KDRMy buddy made the climb in 12:19. His goal was to make it to the top as a rookie and he succeeded. It was fun watching it. I thought the coverage was decent on the racer+ YouTube channel.

E cars compete with the ICE cars. The winner was in unlimited- production based class.

pbslingerDo turbocharged cars lose much power as the altitude increases? I'll guess a few percent and maybe increased turbo lag.
Maybe you want to set up the waste gate to not blow off at the top. Possibly the waste gates are computer controlled and adjust for altitude continuously.

OrgussI was surprised his car didn’t sustain more damage. I’d hate to see someone leave the road at that velocity on one of the higher areas with steeper drop-offs.
