Daughter safe and armed with her Glock. They have multiple shooter from listening to the scanner. Used to live there. I know the ED guys and OR crews. My friends work ems.

Don't call loved ones during an ongoing event. If they have hidden, a phone they haven't turned off may give away their location.

Wait for them to call you, or for the event to be over before you call.

I've been listening to this since it began. There is a MASSIVE police response. They are very organized but getting reports of possible suspects or gunshots all over campus both inside and out of buildings.

There are at least 18 combined agency RTF teams on campus as well as multiple SRT teams, all actively searching for victims and the shooters.

Someone just called in to 911 and reported having placed explosives on campus to further complicated the issue. Bomb Squads are already on scene and are deploying.

I would be surprised to learn that there is more than one shooter, unless it was two thugs popping at each other, and based upon reports so far, it doesn't sound like that.

There was a report of a picture of 3 possibly linked to the incident. That was distributed. There is at least one confirmed fatality and several injuries.

As would I. I have been to three of them now, and the first report is always multiple shooters and it never is.

We had the 10 o'clock "news" on briefly. Of course there's nothing definitive at this point (one of the many reasons you usually prohibit threads such as this), but, I believe they're currently saying there's only one shooter and I believe there's an indication they may have a barricaded gunman situation.

We turned it off. I'm sure such coverage is... comforting (wrong word, but, best I can come up with) to those who have loved ones on-campus, but, for the rest of us it's rather pointless.

It's not lack-of-concern on our parts. It's just there's nothing useful to be gleaned from it.

I've heard multiple reports of shots fired in/near various halls on campus that were quickly debunked by officers standing in the exact spot that had not heard anything.


MSU is a sprawling campus with a lot of wooded areas and buildings that are very tight, or quite spread out.

It will end up being one asshole that everybody and their brother knew was batshit crazy and a hot second from something like this.

They ALWAYS say multiple shooters etc.
