Only disappointment so far is the lack of a fan only mode. Unless I'm missing something.... Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192

Yeah, I do not understand how the $25k quote thought they were going to be competitive. Edit: going thru the bids. The expensive bid is for a total of 57,000 BTUs. The current Tenant has been there for 10 years with a 15,000 BTU window unit A/C. Contractor was trying to sell me 4x what I needed. I have been hearing for years that Mitsubishi were the best. Interestingly they would only give 5 year parts warranty on Mitsu, but 12 years on Daikin or Lennox. Something to think about. I have a few SIGs.

Found some info that said to use a normal stand fan as it is much more efficient than running the AC with the fans cycling on and off. Certifiable member of the gun toting, septuagenarian, bucket list workin', crazed retiree, bald is beautiful club! USN (RET), COTEP #192

Obviously the outfit that gave you that bid is NOT a Mits dealer or if they are they should not be. Trying to foist 57k BTU on you for a 1350 sq ft rental unit is insane. Plus the norm from Mits is a 10 year parts warranty with one year labor from your dealer. If your dealer / installer is a "Diamond" dealer, the parts warranty is extended to 12 years by Mitsubishi. Your mention of both the ludicrous price and the way over conditioning BTUs are HUGE RED FLAGS to me... WALK AWAY! Find someone reputable who sells Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, or other solidly reliable equipment. 57k sounds like a lot, but 15k sounds like maybe not enough. That’s only 11 BTU/sqft. My last house in Houston was a pretty well-built recent build. It had 23 BTU/sqft and sometimes on really hot days the system could barely keep up. I think Houston is maybe a little hotter than where you live, but still.
