A 4D Maglite tucked between the driver's seat and the center console.

It has an LED conversion so it's also a pretty good light. Good enough that it provided all the light I needed to change a flat tire one night.

What size do would you recommend? Also, do you prefer the fog or stream?

If someone is intent on entering the vehicle without permission, I'm going to assume that we're past a civil discussion.

The one time that someone did attempt to carjack, it ended when he saw the pistol in my hand. He bolted, nobody got hurt.

If someone got hurt, I'd rather it had been him.

I carry a gun but also a big bottle of pepper spray. The pepper spray is simply for any road rage idiots that would come up to the door of my truck. They reach for the door handle and they are going to get sprayed.

A ton-and-a-half car has more energy than even the 10mm, if the attacker is dumb enough to get in front of it, or you can make your escape in it, again if you aren't blocked by traffic or something. And while only good after the fact, the pedal on the left has kept a few carjackers from getting away with the car.

As effective as the Trunk Monkey seems to be...

I have a couple of comments.

In Texas, and I’d imagine other places, a bat, tomahawk, bludgeon, club is an illegal weapon. A knife over 5 inches in length is also illegal in many places.

Pepper spray and the like in the proximity of an enclosed vehicle sounds like it would be dangerous to the non-boarders as well. Getting it deployed outside of the vehicle would mean getting an arm extended out the window.

@ sportshooter. Fox labs makes cans as small as 1.5oz, which is still big enough to get a grip on. For a wife’s purse that the size I’d go with. For general use the 3oz is perfect, but it’s too big for a pocket. I like the “cone” spray pattern. The “stream” has to be aimed more. Even with the cone style it’s not like a fogger, it’s got more force behind it. Hope that helps
