Anybody Carry a Nongun Item in Their Vehicle to Repel Boarders
You know. Pepper spray, hammer, hatchet, wrench tire checker, tire iron, pipe. Do you carry an everyday item close at hand you could go to war with if some one tried diving in a window to commit various felonies? Until, hopefully you can get to a better weapon?

Here's what I heard: Sure you can carry a baseball bat in your car. But if you're in an altercation where you used that bat, it's going to not look good if it's not baseball season, you don't have any other baseball related stuff in the car, etc. It can be twisted that you were just looking for trouble.

On the other hand, I used to carry a three foot long D-Cell Maglite on the floor by the driver seat. Now, I've replaced it with a hickory cane as I do use the cane due to a wonky knee when I'm out and about.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Sometimes a beavertail sap, but I never considered repelling boarders with it. I carry it on the road into restrooms. I figure if I have to shoot in a restroom the remainder of my hearing is done.

I always have an Emerson Commander clipped to the first aid bag on the front floor of my pickup. For the last 20 years or so there's also been a hickory pick handle on the back seat, because one never knows when one may run across a pick in need of a handle.

Many years ago a friend used a churchkey (the end used to open cans) to repel a boarder. Worked well. Raked across the miscreant’s face it apparrently dissuaded the individual from his goal.

Pepper spray, but I keep it there mainly for when I walk my dogs. Keep in mind, "assault with a deadly weapon" can apply whether it is a gun or a baseball bat. So, why choose a baseball bat?

Original Poster does not give his location, but that might preclude a firearm.

Fire extinguishers are good for putting things out, or at least buy you some time.
