No flashlight- that says it all. Did the doofus even figure out how to use his fancy iPhone (you just know he's not an Android guy) as an area light? This is beyond ignorance and well into dumbass territory.

MikeNHI learned a new term a few years back that applies here. All the year-round residents of the southern fork of Long Island have a name for all the rich city assholes who clog their small towns all summer- cidiots. This guy is definitrly one.

That nail was hit so viciously on the head it went all the way through the board.
At any moment in his story, I was expecting the guy in the space next to his to walk over and say with a grin, "You've got a purdy mouth."

darthfusterFortunately for the rest of us real campers pansy busy-bodies like this one are less likely to repeat the adventure. Those of us who frequent the wilderness are not given to muzzles and tender feelings.

220-9erThere are boating versions of this story too and that's when it gets dangerous for everybody.

You don't need to know how to drive an RV to rent one. Just look around on the roads during tourist season.

cas"Unfortunately, the heater in the van had broken the night before" = I couldn't figure out how to turn it on.
If they couldn't plug the van in, surely they couldn't diagnose there were heater issues.

sigspecopsI remember camping out under the stars and all I could think about was masks and social distancing. I'm glad this guy has his priorities straight and didn't waste his time obsessing over flashlights and stuff.

mcrimmMy wife and I toyed with the idea of buying a class c motorhome to travel the country. Then we put a pencil to it. Now that gas has returned to liberal prices, it makes no sense. Holiday Inn for me.

Jimbo JonesIronically, many are costumed in "Lumberjack drag" but despite the attire, would get lost, assume the fetal position and start crying after venturing more than 50 yds into the woods.

pedropcolaWe have explored this as well. I put my personal limit at Sprinter van sized units. Unfortunately wife wants bigger. Then the whole concept shuts down.
I chuckle when I see an RV going down the road towing a car. I understand the idea but at some point the complexity of the equation starts to say on me. Hence the car top tent. Keep it simple. Keep it easy. If it gets too hard, I can drive to a hotel.

RightwireThe only way this would have been more funny is if someone had talked him into trying tent camping in a national park.
Then again, I'm guessing the story would have been a mention in his obituary....
