Might I suggest walking the dog before bringing your spouse inside?

P220 SmudgeThat's excellent news! I'll be praying for a quick recovery for her, and an easy cleanup after the dog for you.

It didn't do you any good to tell you at the time, but my mother very nearly died from a similar situation back in 1998. She had appendicitis. It burst and went gangrene. She just thought she was super constipated. I'd never seen her cry before. We lived in the middle podunk cow country, and my father raced her to the only hospital. They let her sit on a stretcher in the hallway for over an hour, quibbling about what to do until an internist came in and said "we need to open her up
right now." Doc said she wouldn't have made it if they'd waited much longer. She made a full recovery. Your wife sounds like a tough lady, she will also.
