Fellow Texans, I did something that I can actually count on one hand the number of times I've done. I contacted my Representatives and the attorney general's office. As many of you know Austin is beyond repressive in their policies and their management. Even though the governor has lifted the masked mandate they just continue to try to find ways to keep it in place and are doing so. Of course today the district court sided with the city no surprise there. I guess the next move for the attorney general would be to appeal it to the next court and I really think you should just a set of precedent with these idiots. I know many will say just stay out of Austin, for the most part I have but I do conduct business there and it just irks me to no end to know that in our capital they still have this mandate. I know Austin can become or has become a liberal epicenter but I'm not ready to give up on our capital even if it is a losing battle. I encourage you all to contact your representatives in the attorney general's office and support him taking this fight to the next level.

Liberals ruin everything everywhere don't they? Sick of it here in Houston too. We are run here by "the Commandant" a 27 year old Hispanic Female with a power trip going on. It has to stop!

Austin is long gone man. I use to go down there to play live events 6 times a year starting way back in the early 90's. I mean it's a 180 degree difference of a city now. I've got someone that is the same as kin down there and they just come up here as they know I want nothing to do with Austin, the traffic, etc, for any reason. Even when I go to the track (COTA), I'll hit the tollway so I never have to go near the city. Round Rock is the closest I come. Austin is long gone to the wokesters and super left. It's so bad they pushed out the hippies, and unique people that Austin used to be. You know the Austin keep it weird crew. They're gone too. Yuppie wokesters in their place. If we even discuss it we discuss it like this, Austin, CA. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Yup, we don’t go to Austin. Last time I went was only to meet a fellow Sig Forum member and do a ftf purchase of a ruger 22 pistol. Homeless people wandering around under the overpasses...had several come snooping around while I was waiting....I think it was an academy sports... I'm sitting in Dripping Springs, for a shop day tomorrow, right now, glad we skirted Austin on our way in from the Houston area. The Enemy's gate is down.

This says it all about Austin (I’ve lived there, I know)...and I got out in’85. It was bad enough then; but there was still some real “country” left then... Sons of the Republic of Texas, NRA, TSRA God Bless America

Deep down I know Austin is lost but I just had a small glimmer of hope that at least the AG would win this battle.

Austin would be pissed to have his name attached to that place. Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark. “If in winning a race, you lose the respect of your fellow competitors, then you have won nothing” - Paul Elvstrom "The Great Dane" 1928 - 2016

I'm offended that that person is appropriating another's gender. Still red here between San Antonio and Austin. We even have "In God We Trust" as our sheriff's office motto on the units. Even so, this is a really fast growing area, and we will be canceled by our government eventually by the effects of this soft invasion. Screw Austin and DC! Retired Texas Lawman

Learn it, know it, live it |
I've lived in DFW for 58 years.. Y'all enjoy the red state while you can. Biden's open border is doing nothing but letting future Democrat voters in. Illegals voting, felons voting, libtard brainwashed social media influenced college kids voting, etc... Which is odd, most of the Hispanics I live around or work with are conservatives... And with the threat of Beto possibly running for Governor? He won't win the first time around, but he will gain traction from the social media influenced idiots.....

Guys, we all know Austin sucks. I go there every year for the Formula 1 race and every year it is worse. But this is not an Austin-bashing thread. Harvey was asking us to do something positive and contact either your state rep or the AG himself and tell them to press on with hassling Austin about their stupid mask mandate. This is a city that is defying state law. That is the point. The Governor said "No Mask Mandate". And Austin said "Fuck you, Mask Mandate". Nope, Austin. You are in Texas. You live by Texas law. So call your Rep, or the AG, or whoever, and make sure they press this. Because today it is masks and next year it will be guns. This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears above ground he is a protector. Plato

I love Austin. Best part of Texas, hands down. An island oasis in an ocean of meh. Not without its problems, but everywhere has problems. Austin doesn't need nor want your help, nor does it need nor want saving. Don't like it, don't go there.

Can't the Governor impose financial penalties and withhold funding until the city complies?

I just traveled through Austin two weeks ago. They make Minnesota look like a conservative bastion. We stayed at a B&B about a hour south of there. We took a cab at the airport and had him make a liquor stop for us on the way. The cab was separated by a plastic drop cloth. but the cabbie passed his phone underneath the plastic to me so I could enter the destination address into it for him. Umm, yeah that works. Then we get to the liquor store. Line of people outside because only four are allowed in at a time. Finally get in make our purchase. There were not one but two pieces of plexiglass between us and the cashier that we have to pass our purchases through for her to ring up. It was such a mess we left one of our purchases behind. Once at the B&B it was mask up, only the wife and I wouldn't comply. We were clearly looked down at for not wearing them and the vibe from the owners and other guest were noticeable. After a little while we took it on as a game. Proudly not wearing a mask. People were actually swimming in the pool or sitting on their decks by themselves wearing a mask. Finally one evening we were sitting on our deck enjoying the 80 plus degree weather and sipping a margarita when another masked couple walked past and stopped. The guy says were y'all from ? I said Minnesota. He asked if they could join us and I said of course. They both removed their masks and said thank God somebody is normal! They were from Missouri. We stayed up quite late and caught a good buzz with those folks and it made the trip. But if Austin is you're only impression of Texas it won't be a good one. The governor won't do squat about this. That pandering pussy imposed masks statewide. The big liberal cities aren't gonna let the mask of virtue go. Its a badge of woke leftism now. 46and2 is right, Austin is a funky, cool oasis and it was my favourite big city in Texas but its just too far gone now. What a shame. I live about 15-20 miles SW of Austin in a rural subdivision. Scenic and relaxing. Mix of right and left. I stay away from Austin and its ineffective mayor. Ever heard that boy talk? It’s as if he’s afraid to “trigger” one of the many fringe groups that people austin like spores in the wind. Ole Steve is careful not to let a single micron of testosterone creep into his voice so as to not trigger any snowflake who might perceive masculinity (such a toxic thing), aggression or a spine. Every word is carefully chosen as when speaking to children, and carefully filtered through a testosterone screening device on its way to the PC and woke configurator. I have to occasionally venture to Austin for medical providers but don’t tarry. Years ago, I would meander around certain favorite haunts like restaurants , record and book stores etc. Not now!

If he can ignore the Governor's order and use the county's health order to mandate masks despite what the Governor ordered what's next. I am not going conspiracy theorist but what if the health authority of Travis county says assault weapons a county health issue. Not likely but who would have thought this. Yes Austin Sucks but its just the principle that they think they can do as they please. The liberal only understands their point of view but rules are there to hold all of us accountable. I urge every Texan to please contact the AG's office and support/encourage that he appeal and go as far as he can. Contact your State Rep and encourage them to do the same. Maybe it is a losing battle but if we dont do something nothing every changes.
