Isn't she the same department of health director who closed polling centers on election day after a judge ordered them open? I'm not from Ohio, but my parents are, and I remember them being super pissed about that. How is she running for governor and not in prison?

So upon further review, it looks like Ms Acton was sexually abused by her mom's husband when she was a child, and that's verifiable fact (at least enough to hold up in court) as he went to prison and she was removed from the home. And her mother stayed married to the guy, even after he got locked up for it, so she was at least complicit if not actually involved in the abuse herself. So mom lacks credibility.

I don't like this ad. It's dirty, it's stupid, and it's going to backfire. There's plenty of legitimate avenues to attack his woman politically without doing something like this. It takes the focus off the issues and makes it personal, and to many undecided voters Vivek is going to come off like an asshole and she's going to be the victim.

And it is backfiring, at least on X. Vivek already has a reputation as a sleazy guy, this may very well lose him the election. Either way, though, his career in national politics is probably finished--and good riddance.

A bit more research shows that mother's husband also abused Ms Action's brother. He has said that she got it worst because she tried to protect him.

When she told her mother about the abuse, her mother called her a liar and punished her.

When she later reported the abuse, mother and husband ran off and were fugitives before they were eventually caught.

Regardless of her politics, Action was definitely the victim here. It is a new low to bring up someone's past abuse to re-victimize them again. He must be pretty desperate to win, having spent three times the money on his campaign already, to reach this far...hard to believe voters wouldn't see how sick he is to elicit the mother in an ad

This goes well beyond your typical political turd slinging. Ramaswamy is trying to leverage the rape of a 12 year-old girl for political gain by siding with the offenders to discredit her. That's fucking disgusting.

I don't like the woman. I think she's unfit to hold office, and probably ought to be in jail for defying a judge's order and interfering with an election. But I also feel great pity that she was abused by her stepfather as a child, and had a piece of shit mother who stuck by him instead of her, even after he was convicted in a court of law. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I also realize how important this election is and really want to see as many conservative wins as possible. But this stunt makes me happy I don't live in Ohio and don't have to make a decision about what to do with my vote because even though I'd never vote for her, I can't vote for somebody who would do this, either. And it actually really pisses me off that JD Vance deflected instead of denouncing this yesterday, too.

We've gotten way to comfortable with the dirtiness of politics, and basically accepted it as the norm. That's a problem. We elect corrupt, self-serving shitheads into office over and over again, and then wonder why the government is corrupt and self-serving. We're never going to get honest leaders with morals or integrity if we tolerate stuff like this.

Also, all morals and conscience aside, this is just stupid. It does nothing to discredit her to anyone who takes 3 minutes to look into the background, and it makes it clear that he's a complete scumbag. Even considering the voters who won't do their research, I'm pretty positive he's still going to end up with a net loss of votes because he did this.

Our current governor of Indiana is a spineless rhino who tried to appease the protestors and throw cops under the bus during the George Floyd riots. He's lost my vote forever, and if Vivek's career somehow weathers this and he ends up back on the national stage and on my ballot, the same goes for him.
