My son is currently finishing up the US Army Signal Captains Career Course.

Today, he was promoted to Captain.

He and his wife will be heading to South Korea later this year for two years.

He is transitioning from Infantry to Signal Corps. To say I am proud would be an understatement.

Congratulations.

It's an interesting name hold over for what they do now. I suppose just like "Cavalry."

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Congratulations to your son. Based on my only 21 years of service, they don't accept underachievers into the Signal Corp. He should be working with some outstanding people.

Johnny 3eagles,

He attended college on a ROTC scholarship at a fine institution of higher education in your state. WPS!

This picture is from ESPN about 5 years ago. He would have preferred to use his sword on those kneeling but he has a lot of self control.

Great! My SIL got his commission via University of Arkansas Army ROTC in the Armor branch. As a Captain, served as a tank company commander during Desert Shield/Desert Storm with the 1st Infantry Division.

That's awesome. Where is Signal CCC at?

We always looked at Signal guys as the smarter guys who have actual skills they can use after the Army. Big Grin I've heard good things about Korea, really cold in the winter but awesome place to be stationed. I have a friend who did so much traveling while stationed there and took the chance to travel all around Asia.

Pardon the ignorance, what does Signal Corps do? My thought is this might be IT or communications but I am guessing. Thank you.

Congrats to all involved in raising this young man You have reasons to be proud....I spent 13 months in Korea (1969-1970) 5th/38th Field Artillery (105mm) 2nd Infantry Division just south of the Imjim River(base camp==Camp Sabre== Munsan-ri) with time across river (hostile fire zone) and some time inside the DMZ and on several guard post hill tops. Korea is a beautiful country.. Enjoyed my tour.. Am sure that it has greatly improved and built up and evolved .... ....drill sgt.
