Well just got the approval for a new roof, now they just need to install it, I think I'll have them wait until October and the Hurricane season is over...

reloader-1Hurricane season ends in late November/early December, or at least that’s what I remember growing up in Miami...

reloader-1I was just teasing

However, if you put your roof up in October, that’s just asking for a late season hurricane to swing by

I have a fixed back-up generator on order so hurricane season needs to wait until after it's installed.
BTW, Kohler has a deal with
Centerpoint Energy (might have same deal with your gas or electric utility) where you get a free automatic transfer switch and a discount on generators based on generator size. The deal ends
July 15th and for me that was approx an $1100 savings ($400 on generator and $700 on transfer switch).

Here is a historical graph of past hurricane seasons.

Good to know, with our power going out on the 4th with the Houston storms, a backup would be of some great value come hurricane season.

They’re adding on more subdivisions to my neighborhood and power has been unreliable the past two months with 3 power outages of between 1 and 4 hours. I’m also coming home several days per week to flashing microwave clock and/or breakers tripped. Power was more reliable in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey than it has been the past 2 months.
Therefore, I decided to take advantage of the discount and not face the peak of hurricane season with this unreliable power.

Hay2baleTropical Storm Chris is expected to strengthen to a hurricane today, but will remain offshore (I hope). Lots of high surf.
