I have a fixed back-up generator on order so hurricane season needs to wait until after it's installed.

BTW, Kohler has a deal with Centerpoint Energy (might have same deal with your gas or electric utility) where you get a free automatic transfer switch and a discount on generators based on generator size. The deal ends July 15th and for me that was approx an $1100 savings ($400 on generator and $700 on transfer switch).

Good to know, with our power going out on the 4th with the Houston storms, a backup would be of some great value come hurricane season.

They’re adding on more subdivisions to my neighborhood and power has been unreliable the past two months with 3 power outages of between 1 and 4 hours.
