Told cops where to go for over 29 years…

So I regularly hear interviews with Sen John Kennedy of Louisiana, Rep Dan Crenshaw of Texas, and others and and their straight talk and common sense give me hope that we do still have a chance. Heck, even Lindsey Graham gets fired up on occasion.

The other day after listening to Sen Kennedy, on one of the Fox News shows I got to thinking, in all of my 56 years, I can never once remember hearing one of MY Federal representatives speaking to a topic and expressing my thoughts and feelings on the matter.

Even though I regularly feel conservative issues are a lost cause in my state, I always voted just to show that there are others who think differently. Over the years I. Have written LOTS to both state and federal legislators as well as news editorial pages. Always seem to be the “minority” and as effective as pissing up a rope.

It struck me that it must feel good to think you actually are being “represented” in Washington, even if not always on the winning side. Just knowing your thoughts and beliefs are being presented and argued for would seem to be a heartening experience.

If all goes as planned, I will retire in about 4 years and GTFO of Washington state. I really hope to find a new home were I can feel welcome, “normal”, and represented.

I feel your pain. I'm 70 and have lived in Michigan my whole life (except a stint in the Navy). Not once in all that time have I felt represented on the federal level. There have been a couple exceptions on the state level, for which I'm grateful, but that's it.

Move here:

Then you can vote for and be represented by this guy:
https://twitter.com/timburchett/with_replies

I was able to vote for him before moving to SW VA last November. He's a great guy. He has probably knocked on every door in the district (while carrying). He wears his Carharrt jacket over his suit in the winter and would go out with county employees any time something was going on - like staying up all night and going out with the snow plow crews. He personally planted hundreds of flags in the veteran's cemeteries around Knoxville. He's been county mayor, a stat rep and now US Congressman. He's won all of his elections in huge landslides.
Any constituent can set up a meeting and have lunch with him - read his twitter feed, he regularly invites critics to lunch.

We had a few RINO senators from TN, but overall it's very nice having representatives who actually represent your views.

I'm pretty sure that for most of, definitely the last 20-25 years of my life "representative government' was lost.

It's gone from "how can I represent you?" to "My party is going to this, you need to vote for me" morphing into "I'll do whatever it takes to get reelected"

I don't think this is what the founding fathers had in mind when they created the structure of our government.

Never, on the federal level.

Gov. LePage came pretty close on the state level, but that twat Mills is systematically undoing everything he did.

my interests are represented federally, just not by my reps as guys like Thomas Massie, and the Pauls aren't exactly all over the map.

I thankfully live in the far eastern portion of Jefferson County, which otherwise is in the KY-3 represented by that Socialist Dem John Yarmuth. Thomas Massie is my Congressman, and Rand Paul And Mitch McConnell are my Senators. And I’m happy with Matt Bevin as my Governor, who is in the same mold as Massie and Paul, to the consternation of McConnell.

He stopped into a gunshop right by Sig's academy. What a moron. He could not answer any questions and knew little about actual gun law.
