"Not lucid enough to resign" ???? Are you kidding me??? If she is not "lucid enough" to resign she is not lucid enough to govern and she should be removed. Just ridiculous

“She is leaning toward making the best decision in the best interest in the citizens of Baltimore City,” he said, adding that Pugh has “several options” to consider. “She just needs to be physically and mentally sound and lucid enough to make appropriate decisions.”

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh has been meeting with her lawyers all day Friday while the FBI and IRS sort through the potential evidence agents seized Thursday in high-profile raids across the city.

The mayor's attorney, Steve Silverman, arrived at Pugh's house shortly before 5 p.m. Friday.

He spoke to reporters after meeting with Pugh. He said: "We are just trying to get to a level of physical and mental stability so she can make material decisions about what she wants to do next. I know what she wants to do is whatever's in the best interest of Baltimore City, but it's very hard when someone is not able to think clearly and feel physically up to task to make major decisions such as this. I know where her heart is. She is a soulful person. She cares deeply about the city despite what some people think right now. She truly is ill, and we just don't want to try to compel her to make decisions that she isn't comfortable with or isn't able to reasonably and rationally make on her own. And it's as simple as that. But I promise you, the No. 1 priority is Baltimore City."

Silverman said more could be heard from the mayor come Tuesday.

Attorney Steve Silverman made the announcement Wednesday evening.

Wednesday marked one month since Pugh took leave from her duties at City Hall.

Baltimore City Solicitor Andre Davis drafted a resignation letter for Mayor Catherine Pugh and gave it Wednesday to her attorney, as city residents await her decision about whether to step down in the face of federal and state investigations.

In a quick, curbside exchange outside City Hall, Davis gave a manila folder to Silverman about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. Slightly more than an hour later, Silverman arrived at the Democratic mayor’s house in the city’s Ashburton neighborhood.

Both men declined to comment about the exchange, which was witnessed by a Baltimore Sun reporter.

Two sources familiar with the contents of the folder confirmed it contained the proposed resignation letter written by Davis.

The more rocks that get kicked over, the more it looks as if Catherine Pugh has been lining her own pockets and living quite well during her time as Mayor and even back when she was in the state Senate. More details of the self-dealing going on with up to a dozen other members of the UMMS board are expected to be forthcoming. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

According to a report from the Afro-American newspaper, Baltimore City Mayor Catherine Pugh will announce her resignation Thursday.

Mayor Catherine Pugh's lawyer said he will hold a news conference Thursday afternoon regarding her future.

Steve Silverman went inside Pugh's home in Northwest Baltimore Wednesday, then came out and told reporters: "I just met with the mayor. I intend to schedule a press conference tomorrow afternoon, and at that time I will be in a position to tell you what her intentions are moving forward."

The AFRO reports: In a one-on-one conversation with AFRO Publisher and CEO Frances “Toni” Draper on Wednesday, May 1, Mayor Catherine E. Pugh said she will resign as mayor of Baltimore City effective May 2.

adding:

All we know about her status and intentions comes from a private attorney, Steven Silverman, and now he’s telling us that at 3:30 today in his office — not the mayor’s residence, not City Hall — he will inform Baltimore of who its mayor will be. Whether Ms. Pugh will even be in the room is a mystery.

Catherine Pugh resigns

Embattled Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, who has been away from the job amid a corruption scandal centered around a children’s book, announced her resignation through her lawyer on Thursday.

"Dear citizens of Baltimore, I would like to thank you for allowing me to serve as the fiftieth mayor. It has been an honor and a privilege," the statement read by her lawyer Thursday said. "Today I am submitting my written resignation to the Baltimore City Council."

"I am sorry for the harm that I have caused to the image of the city of Baltimore and the credibility of the office of the mayor," Pugh's statement continued. "Baltimore deserves a mayor who can move our great city forward."

quite a bit OT, but Baltimore related

https://baltimore.cbslocal.com...y-ransomware-attack/

The FBI is investigating a ransomware attack on Baltimore City’s network, while city officials try to bring back the network to its full capacity.

Although city services are no longer are being affected, hackers are still accessing the system, according to Mayor Jack Young.

“These people are so sophisticated that their job is just to disrupt,” Young said. “I wish they would use it for more good than they are for just bad in trying to extort money from cities and companies. It’s just not right.”

It was discovered Tuesday that the system was taken offline, and technicians continue to work on fixing it.

Details not being released, but ransomware is a type of malware that prevents users from accessing their files unless they pay. Here’s what the mayor wants you to know:

“No city services have been affected. People were able to get their cars at the towing yard, people come in and pay in cash or money orders or they can mail their payments in. So all the city is functioning. We’re doing it a different way and the citizens of Baltimore are not being affected we just cannot get emails and those kinds of things ,” Young said. “We are moving forward and citizens should not notice anything other than they have to come in and do things manually .”

The mayor said city employees are still working and the only change for them is they cannot access computers .

As for the ransom, Young said they won’t be paying.

In a news conference, the City’s Chief of Information Technology said that the FBI has confirmed this is a very aggressive ransomware.
