All throughout the year, I get thanks and compliments from forum members, grateful for this forum and saying how much they appreciate the way it is run, and as we go into the new year, it's my turn to express gratitude and my turn to be complimentary.

It doesn't come through, I'm sure, in my day-to-day dealings here in the forum, but I am grateful for the presence of the members. Without you, this place would be nothing, just an empty page. It is the members who make this forum. It's not just the presence of all of you. I have pruned the tree on a regular basis, shedding the dead leaves and withered branches and I say without any reservation that those members of this forum who remain are truly good people, decent people, kind people.
It may come as a surprise to many of you, but not infrequently, I feel unworthy of the company I keep here. I have ceased being surprised at the fact that even at my age, I learn things from those here by their demonstrations of kindness and charity. It's the truth.

So, thank you, one and all.

All of us- the members and I as well, owe lbj much thanks for his contributions to the continued existence of this forum, though I am the one to get the praise. Don't forget about the quiet one. Thank you, lbj, our rock of ages.

Lastly, I will add a word of guidance and caution for the coming year- watch what you say on these pages. Temper your remarks. Think twice before you post. Places where conservatives gather, places such as his forum, are being closely monitored. It is not my intention to be dramatic; it's quite simply the truth. No one here needs to change what they are doing, just keep doing it and be ever mindful of the times we live in and the attrition of our freedoms.

And on that sober note, I wish all of you and yours a happy, safe and healthy new year. It's going to be quite a ride. All of you know this. Just hang on and we shall prevail.
