My wife and I are headed to Boston for a long Father’s Day weekend. Our son is getting married, so needless to say we are going. Looking for some recommendations, but I’m kind of specific as we won’t have a ton of time.
Flying into Logan and staying in Belmont. We will have my son’s car to get around. I’ve only been to Baltimore for a day, so I have zero East Coast experience.

Recently I have started to get slightly interested in American history. I failed history through school, so please forgive my stupid questions.

I would like to see where the Boston Tea Party took place, which should be easy to find.

What I would like to see is where some of the revolutionary war battles took place. Are there any sites that one would recommend for me to go see?

Wife hates baseball, and they are playing the Yankees when we are there and tickets are not something I would choose to afford at those prices.

Anything else you would recommend we see or visit? It doesn’t have to be history based. (I don’t have much interest in seeing Ivy League Schools, unless you have a very compelling reason to go.)

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

My favorite city. Email in profile. Let's set up a call.

We enjoyed visiting Concord when we were stationed there.

The Old North Church and the Freedom Trail in Boston as well.

I'd recommend at least going and taking a look at the USS Constitution. The museum is decent too, and the tour is worth it if they are doing it. But just being near it to see its size will probably blow your mind.

The Freedom Trail tour will pack a lot in, Lexington at Concord is very accessible.

There is actually a ton to see, if I were to pick another notable, it would be the Mapparium at the Christian Science Mother Church.

The Isabella Stuart Gardner museum is cool, you can see empty frames... Lots of good choices.

Arc.

You could head up Route 128 and take in Gloucester (Hammond Museum's nice), Rockport (Bearskin Neck has artist shops), then take Route 133 to Route 1A to Newburyport, a former whaling center with shops & restaurants. Along 133 is a restaurant named Woodman's whose claim to fame is the 1st fried clam, good seafood there.
Google each city for points of interest. Lots of history in each, though mainly geared towards the sea.
If you start early, you should be able to do all of it in one day.

Fanuiel Market has a National Park Service center where you can join (free) historical walking tours of downtown Boston. Parking in Boston is scarce and expensive, driving in the city is "challenging". If you can figure out the T that can be an adventure in itself.

Leave the car and take the T, it will take you everywhere you want to see.

We enjoyed the walking Freedom Trail tour, it will take you to the USS Constitution and Bunker Hill!

I suggest eating at La Famiglia Giorgio, 112 Salem st. The portions are huge so choose wisely, perhaps split a selection.

Congrats on the upcoming marriage.

Lived in Cambridge/Newtonville for 8 years, and enjoyed it. Boston's a great place for a vacation.

Assuming wedding-related events will take up a good chunk of the time you're there, for a very short visit focused on history, assuming you'll have good weather I'd suggest: Bunker Hill (yes, it's at Breed's Hill), the Duck Tour, Freedom Trail. Those are all pretty close into town. USS Constitution and Lexington as well if time permits.

If it's bad weather, possibly museums? Depending on your interests, there's a Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium and a bunch of art museums to choose from. I'm not an art person so cannot personally recommend one art museum over another, but a good friend who has lived there for 45 years really enjoys the Museum of Fine Arts.

Here is a good link for a good portion of the Revolutionary war stuff to see in Boston:

https://www.battlefields.org/v...onary-boston-one-day

Lincoln and Concord are a straight shot down Rt2 from Belmont. But there probably isn't much to really see. There is the Minute Man National Historical Park, although I've never been there so I'm not sure if it's much more than a field.

Years ago a few of my friends used to work for Old Town Trolley tours. They're still in business. It's an easy way to get around to most of the major attractions, and learn a lot from the tour drivers. You can stop at any point, see the site and get back on the next trolley.

Enjoy your trip. It's a good city to visit.

I’ll also recommend the USS Constitution and associated venues nearby.

I was in Boston over Christmas in 98. We were there for 3 days of unauthorized liberty( we took another ship’s patrol because they were broken down and the skipper said we were pulling in) Visiting the USS Constitution was one of the highlights. As well as the long warf Marriott hotel.

I live in the city proper.
Go see old Ironsides, visit the Navy Yard, the Casin Young, go.to the North End, some great affordable restaurants are, Bencotto on Hanover and Fleet Street, Paglialucas on Parmenter, Lemoncello on North Street, Umberto on Hanover Street, great square Sicilian Pizza, Modern Pastry is fresh every day. Back Bay and Copley is very safe and nice, Waterfront and Seaport are very nice, Seaport however is not very Boston, it looks like every other place in America but by the water. If you take Public Transit, Green and Blue Lines are very safe, Orange line do not go beyond Mass Ave, toward Forest Hills, Red line don't go beyond JFk UMass towards Dorchester or Braintree. Need anything pm me or email in profile.
