I received a government letter to somebody else at my address. The mail person even put a question mark on the envelope as she guessed that person doesn't live at my address. I put the envelope back in the mailbox after I wrote "does not live here."

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I'm first owner of this home so I don't have the situation the OP describes.

However, my neighborhood has 2 different postal carriers covering this route and the days the older one delivers I'm likely to receive at least one piece of someone else's mail. I could understand stuff sticking together and it being for a neighbor, but sometimes it's for someone miles away. I personally deliver it if it's one of the 4 blocks in my little subdivision, but if it's for someone else I mark it up and put it in the outgoing mail.

USPS is also pretty bad about putting someone else's package on my doorstep. Once again, I deliver if it's in my subdivision but it's too large to fit in outgoing mail so a couple time I've hopped in my truck and delivered.

When I lived in Can-eh-duh, FedEx routinely delivered stuff to the dyslexic version of my address and vice versa. When I received one for my neighbor, I quickly delivered it rain, snow, or shine. It had nothing to do with her being an absolute babe who seemingly only wore yoga clothes.
