Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has “serious concerns” with the Senate’s just-introduced immigration plan, he told Breitbart News through a spokesperson on Monday morning.

“Now that I have seen text, I have questions and serious concerns,” Cornyn said in a statement to this outlet.

Cornyn’s comment did not say straight up he would oppose or vote for the bill, as Breitbart News had asked his spokesperson, but the fact he’s now publicly raising “serious concerns” with the plan from Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) likely bodes badly for getting him to support it in the end.

Cornyn’s decision to now raise questions and concerns with the plan is a reversal of sorts for him too, as he previously was cheering on Lankford during the negotiations saying as Breitbart News previously reported that the GOP had “unique leverage” in the process.

McConnell, though, has been very supportive of Lankford throughout the process and is expected to support the deal. Whatever happens in the Senate, though, Johnson has made clear that this bill is dead on arrival and will never receive a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Donald Trump:

“Only a fool, or a Radical Left Democrat, would vote for this horrendous Border Bill, which only gives Shutdown Authority after 5000 Encounters a day, when we already have the right to CLOSE THE BORDER NOW, which must be done,” Trump’s post on Truth Social reads. “This Bill is a great gift to the Democrats, and a Death Wish for The Republican Party.”

He continued, “It takes the HORRIBLE JOB the Democrats have done on Immigration and the Border, absolves them, and puts it all squarely on the shoulders of Republicans. Don’t be STUPID!!! We need a separate Border and Immigration Bill. It should not be tied to foreign aid in any way, shape, or form! The Democrats broke Immigration and the Border. They should fix it. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

In a second post, Trump said, “The ridiculous “Border” Bill is nothing more than a highly sophisticated trap for Republicans to assume the blame on what the Radical Left Democrats have done to our Border, just in time for our most important EVER Election. Don’t fall for it!!!”

Of course not. The concern is if anything does pass the House, what will it look like.

Texas Stripped of Powers in Border Security Bill

Conservatives have attacked a provision of the new border security bill that would only allow legal challenges to be made in Washington D.C.

The bill would strip the power of Texas and other states to challenge some of the its provisions in their local federal court.

Conservative commentators were quick to denounce the provision, contained on page 221 of the bill. Bill Shipley, who was a federal prosecutor for over 20 years, decried the its court provisions on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.

"This would prevent plaintiffs - like the State of Texas - from filing suit in Texas federal courts. This is corrupt," he wrote.

After outlining the provisions under which immigrants can seek judicial review of a deportation order, the bill states:
"The United States District Court for the District of Columbia shall have sole and original jurisdiction to hear challenges, whether constitutional or otherwise, to the validity of this section or any written policy directive, written policy guideline, written procedure, or the implementation thereof."

The right of judicial review for illegal immigrants about to be deported has proved controversial.

In 2022, a Louisiana federal judge blocked the Biden administration from ending Title 42, a pandemic-related border restriction that allows for the immediate expulsion of asylum-seekers and other migrants.

Reacting to the latest provisions in the border security bill, conservative writer and self-style "deportation scientist" Mike Howell wrote on X that the bill "puts far left DC district court in charge."

Lawyer and author, Kurt Schlichter, wrote: "This is amazing" on X in response to the provision.

President Joe Biden's administration secured a significant win over Texas Governor Greg Abbott in late January after the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to allow the temporary removal of razor wire installed by Texas along the southern border. The removal will remain place while litigation over the issue proceeds.

The decision sparked anger among Republicans who support the measures taken by Abbott and his administration to fight illegal immigration in the state. Tensions over the measures escalated as the federal government raised environmental and humanitarian concerns about the deterrent.

The Texas governor, an outspoken critic of Biden over immigration issues, has vowed that the fight "is not over" and called the razor wire "an effective deterrent" in a post on X, formerly Twitter, despite the legal blow. He also issued a statement declaring Texas' "right to self-defense."

In an opinion piece published Sunday, the Houston Chronicle's editorial board raised concerns over Abbott's "defiance," comparing it to past events in U.S. history.

"For Americans of a certain age, Abbott's defiance has a familiar ring. It brings to mind Alabama's 'segregation forever' governor, George Wallace, who in 1963 barred African-American students Vivian Malone and James Hood from registering at the University of Alabama," the opinion piece read.

You know what Texas needs at Eagle Pass? A brand spanking new outdoor 24 hour shooting range with a membership fee (must be a legal US citizen to join- you know, guns and all). Make it a half mile long with a big, safe backstop, and running parallel to the border. Maybe a nice chain link fence topped with… you guessed it… barbed wire. Anyone attempting to climb said fence and essentially break in without a membership card gets arrested immediately.

Thanks; I just contacted my two Senators and they are voting against it. Also conveyed my feelings about McConnell needing to be ditched.

Border Crisis: Democrats Are Trying To Run A Protection Racket On The American Public

https://www.zerohedge.com/poli...cket-american-public

It's important for Americans to understand that the Democrat Party of today has abandoned all pretenses of traditional political engagement. Yes, there is a long history of brinksmanship in US politics, but we haven't seen this level of thirst for internal conflict since the Civil War. Leftists have deliberately created an environment in which any opposition to their policies is labeled “insurrection” and a “threat to democracy.” They have adopted a zero tolerance mindset, justified in their own imaginations by a cult-like ideology of globalism and wokeness.

The way in which Democrats operate is highly reminiscent of communist regimes of the past. Honest debates about facts and logic are long gone. Their goal is to win at any cost, and winning means they become the de facto social and governmental arbiters of all they survey. Winning for them means the end of western civilization as we know it.

It's clear that their strategy is to use crisis events as leverage to negotiate more power and influence. They tried this method during the covid lockdowns. They tried it with the January 6th protests. They do it every time there's a debate over the debt ceiling. And now, they're trying to find a way to exploit the border crisis they created.

In the past three years, Joe Biden has overseen the biggest explosion in mass illegal immigration in the history of the US. Trump era measures such as Title 42 slowed border encounters to a trickle, but Biden ended them all and offered greater incentives for illegals to trespass.

Democrats argue that the only reason there is a border threat is because Republicans refuse to accept the measures included in their immigration “reform” legislation. Pass the bill, they say, and all these problems go away.

As many conservatives have rightly pointed out, there's no need for immigration reform or a new migrant bill – The laws that are already in place simply need to be enforced. But there is a more insidious tactic being applied that needs to be addressed; namely, that Democrats are trying to establish a precedent that border security is something to be “negotiated” through legislative chicanery.

What is it that Democrats want in exchange for a secure border? Well, they want an open border, of course.

Democrat immigration reform under discussion right now will allow up to 1.8 million illegals to enter the US every year (5000 migrants per day) under asylum and refugee status. In other words, 1.8 million migrants apprehended at the border will be released into the US by federal agencies. There are no provisions to end “catch and release” policies. This number doesn't include the millions of “gotaways” that avoid detection every year.

The legislation is also designed to fast track amnesty for millions of illegals already in the US, and it continues to increase access to subsidies and welfare programs for non-citizens. Reform does nothing to solve the basic problem of incentives – In fact, it encourages a larger crisis over time when foreigners realize a certain measure of illegal immigration is now codified into law.

Leftists are setting the precedent that conservatives will have to sacrifice certain hard line stances to get the security they call for. In this way they are suggesting that border security is a negotiable matter. It shouldn't be.

“Want a secure border? Better give us 1.8 million new illegals per year. Better than 3 million a year, right?”

“Want a secure border? Better give us fast track amnesty for the millions of illegals already in the US so we can secure a voting super-majority.”

“Want a secure border? Stop interfering with our plans for a perpetual proxy war with Russia in Ukraine. Give us our billions or the floodgates stay open.”

It's very similar to a protection racket run by the mob: “Nice country. It would be a shame if something bad happened to it. Don't worry, give us what we want and we'll make sure you stay safe...”

There is no need for immigration reform. There is no need for new legislation. There is no need for a bipartisan bill. There is no need for negotiation. The state of Texas has already shown us what needs to be done, and with over 1200 miles of southern border they're going to need help.

If Democrats are really interested in stopping mass illegal immigration, they should help southern states build border fencing with components like razor wire, as Texas is doing. They should end welfare incentives which 60% of illegals take as soon as they enter the country (illegal immigrants cost American taxpayers over $180 billion per year in welfare, and they only pay around $30 billion in taxes). They should end catch and release policies and asylum. And sanctuary cities should admit they were wrong and stop preventing immigration agencies from doing their job.

So far, the Dems have shown no interest in supporting any of these measures. In fact, they have done everything in their power to obstruct such measures from being implemented.

Stopping this invasion is not difficult at all when you remove Democrat interference from the equation. Let's be honest, they are the real threat to the country. Illegal immigration is only a symptom of a greater disease.

McConnell, who originally stood nearby with Schumer until the outcry was heard, clearly has a traitorous hand in this. He's hiding now...

Aside from the attempt to give 60B to Ukraine, and 14B to Israel, this bill gives 10B more to Gaza Mad Knowing how money we give Gaza usually gets used, WTF are they thinking? This is 10X more than what was budgeted to veterans. HUD had only 94.4 million for housing US vets in 2023 budget.

Tar and feather anyone who voted for this steaming pile of shit.

DO NOT give Biden the power he seeks at any cost. The laws already are on the books he just needs to revoke his executive orders and instruct his government to follow the law.

I rather we set a fire $14b + $60b than agree to this bill. I'll even provide the gas and matches.

message is getting across

https://www.breitbart.com/poli...l-turns-border-bill/

Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made the shocking decision to recommend Republicans block the advancement of the Senate pro-migration border bill.

That first procedural vote was set for Wednesday. It is unknown if Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will forge ahead, although that is likely.

McConnell cited the overwhelming number of Senate Republicans planning to vote against the measure either on substance or because they wanted more time, according to Punchbowl News.

The longtime Republican leader has spoken in favor of the deal and did not express any personal hesitations about the legislation to his colleagues.

According to Punchbowl, McConnell said the political mood in the country has changed since negotiations began months ago. At that time, McConnell and Democrat leaders agreed to pair foreign aid to Ukraine, of which McConnell is the Senate’s greatest champion, with a border compromise.

Leaked details of the secretive deal, which McConnell’s chosen Republican lead negotiator Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) and other allies denied, were confirmed Sunday upon the bill’s release. The overwhelming opposition led to McConnell altering his plan Monday night.

Even Lankford, who continued championing the deal leading up to Monday night’s Senate Republican Conference meeting, would not say after the meeting if he would vote to move forward Wednesday on the deal he negotiated, according to the Huffington Post.
