My current TV set up is a 70" Vizio with a Sonos Beam Gen2 mounted underneath.

I bought the Sonos because all the reviews said it was the best, with exception of the ARC, and since I was not willing to spend $900 on a soundbar, the Beam was the winner. And I have been happy with it.

I would not mind a little more bass though. Yesterday I got an email from Sonos for their new sub mini at $429. That got my thinking an so I logged on Costco and I see the Klipsch 12" wireless subwoofer is currently on sale for $189, down from $279.

I have a cabinet into which I can place either sub, so both will be hidden away. Is there any reason the Klipsch does not win in this scenario?

I haven't auditioned either but have heard the Sonus is quite good.
Perhaps it will interface better or not.
One thing to know that physical placement can make a tremendous amount of difference as will the size of the room.
Also know that it is one speaker that you can move a round in a room as it is not localized (beam path of high frequencies).
We call moving it around for better sound the "sub crawl".
You can also can compensate for the room by adding more than one sub.
One thing with Costco > buy both, try them and return the other or use both. Smile

Let us know...

I'm not an expert. And I know there are better subs (SVS, REL, among many others) although I can't place Sonos on a relative scale. The better subs were more costly and I wasn't sure of the value of subs; my front floor standing speakers have never really left me wanting. The subs are only used for movies and not for music.

I bought the 12" Klipsch and have no real complaints. Placement does matter - too close to walls or corners and it gets very boomy.

If you are currently running your sound through a Sonos device (the Beam), I don't believe the Beam will communicate with any non-Sonos product.

The main selling point with Sonos is a good UI with decent sound quality… with that in mind, how will the Klipsch interface with the Sonos Beam? Is there a traditional analog it digital audio output that can be paired with the input requirements of the Klipsch?

I love my Sonos speakers for their main selling point… I have speakers collecting dust in my garage that are FAR superior in every way… except convenience/interface. I’d be leaning toward the Sonos for that reason but, like you, I’d want some real life experience insight thrown my way.

Now, subwoofer frequencies are more forgiving than the rest of the audible wave spectrum. It’s not particularly hard, or expensive, to build a good sub. I suspect either one would be fine, and likely they sound similar.. I’m assuming both are relatively compact and low powered in a vented enclosure. You aren’t going to blow out the windows, but you’ll round out the bottom, and everyone loves a nice rounded bottom.

I guess all that to say sorry, I can’t answer the question, but I guess I’m just trying to help set the context.

Feel free to ignore me entirely! My wife says that is often a wise choice!

As a Sonos owner (Arc/Beam/4 1’s/Sub/etc), the Beam doesn’t work with non-Sonos subs.

That’s the whole point of Sonos, it’s not a traditional AV setup with cables etc. Everything communicates wirelessly/SonosNet, it’s a super simple setup.

You are basically asking how to fill up your Tesla with premium gasoline… Wink

Edit: when you get the Sonos Sub Mini, don’t stick it in a cabinet. It’s not designed to work in an enclosed space.

Ahhh, didn't think about the fact that I could not use them together.

Hmmm, no cabinet huh? Well, maybe you just saved me $429.

Thanks all.

I picked up an Arc and a pair of Ones from Costco when we moved a few months ago. It lacked bass so I bought a returned Sonos sub from Best Buy at a reduced price. I am very happy with this setup on a 65” OLED LG TV.

One thing I should have mentioned, holdem, is that a sub (either the mini or the regular) really makes the system shine, as it frees up your soundbar for everything that isn’t low frequency.

If you have the $429, and don’t mind the looks of the Sub Mini somewhere inconspicuous, I think you will really enjoy the sound.

I’d stick with Sonos. And with subs just know 2 is better than one in open spaces.

Nice to know and always enjoy a pic but it has nothing to do with the OP's topic. Eek

Yea it does. We have the Klipsch subwoofer, the exact 12" model from Costco. I thought that was evident.
