TexasScrubWell that was biased, and the next story about Cruz/Beto was extremely biased. I didn't think it'd be any different, then I saw a Bloomberg commercial where he said he was bi-partisan, and knew I'd ventured into the twilight zone.

KMitch200Per CBS, AR boolits are FAST! and DEADLY!
Nothing in any other firearm comes close to the whopping power of the 223/5.56.
Should make a great brown bear and elk round if CBS is to be believed.

chessiedog1I love how the lab compared the damage to a FMJ 9 mm round. They gave no hard numbers or facts. Like the one already posted here. Rifles account for a small percentage of firearms deaths.

Well, as I recall, l"they" did a competition evaluation between the 5.56 and 30 cal for the military. Of course it was done with total objectivity. They used hollow points in the AR and full jacketed rounds in the M14 (?). Shooting at watermelons. The result was predictable.
And that farce was used to sell the M16 to the military. Of course there was no fraud or rigged tests to sell the M16s to the military. Done by the same political asshole whose MBAs said there was no need to have cleaning equipment for those weapons in Viet Nam. How many US troops died because that POS rusted to the point that it jammed in the middle of a fire fight, due to the rusted chambers?
We had a personal friend who was a general in the German army. He and his civilian boss came to see Robert McNamara over this issue. McNamara listened with a lot less than attention, and then semi-politely rejected their thoughts and essentially told them to piss off. Of course it was in McNamara's financial interests to make sure that the military bought a lot of those weapons.

to collect the 11% tax on firearms, annually
not counted by serial number, just a total,

Longbow_06It's funny how they focus on the "Evil" black rifle, when AR doesn't stand for Assault Rifle in the first place.
I always call it Americas Rifle, to confuse the idiots.
Anyway... Participating in "Active Shooter" seminars, the one thing that stands out to me is that most of the LEO conducting the seminars are more concerned over the possible use of Semi-Auto Shotguns, over the use of the AR.

Note that while commie states may register ARs, Free states don’t. Even in Commiefornia, I’ll bet there are three to fifteen unregistered ARs for ever registered one. Featureless, whatever it takes to avoid registration until one can escape to Free America. If there are eleven million registered, there are probably a whole heck of a lot more than that in citizen hands...

BeanheadI tried watching it but the one sided story took its toll on me.
Comparing a rifle cartridge to a pistol cartridge is shoddy journalism. It is time to bring back the fairness doctrine in which there would be an opposing story about why AR15 is useful and how the comparison was deceptive. Gee, see this fat person run slower than this fit runner? Well, duh!
