Tonight

Doubt that I’ll stay with it, but at least long enough to confirm my suspicions

I won't give any spoilers.

It was not as bad as I was anticipating.

Dunno'. It was pretty bad.

In case you missed it, ARs shoot high-velocity boolits that kill people. AR = Bad.

At least that's what I got out of it, but I could only bring myself to watch the last few minutes or so.

The majority of it dealt with tissue damage/trauma from the .223 round. How EMS and hospitals are adapting to current shooting "trends".

They did a ballistics gel comparison between a .223 and 9mm. They failed to mention anything about overpenetration between the two.

There are something like 11 million AR's registered in the US, and they are the weapon of choice for mass shootings. But failed to mention the mental state of the shooter who commit these crimes.

Maybe they should do a story on big liberal cities with thousands and thousands of senseless murders committed by the indigenous population... or is that too outside the box for them?

Or any of the other upteen rife rounds that are out there.

They always make it sound like the .223/5.56 round is the most end-all, high power, killing projectile ever devised. Eek

Well it is, isn't it? The Media once told me one bullet from an AR15 will bring down a commercial aircraft from 30,000 feet.

The weapon of choice for mass shootings and yet the vast majority of mass shootings involve handguns? Confused

Did they address the lethality of "the thing that goes up", and why it needs to be banned?

Remember the words "in common use" when the next ban attempt happens. 11 million is pretty damned common.

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

Never got to see it. Like I said in the OP, I wanted to at least gauge the tone of the story. At 6:00 I turned on the TV and saw that they were broadcasting the end of Denver’s football game—a game that was already over. This continued for a few minutes, then it quite abruptly went to commercial break. When they came back from the break 60 Minutes was on, and obviously, had been on for awhile. The story aired first, I guess. Never saw it.

If I am doing fine finish carpentry and driving brads, I may use a 6-8 oz hammer.

If I am breaking concrete I will use a 10 lb sledge or a jackhammer.

Proper tool for the job.

I am betting emergency room visits from whacking a thumb with an 8 oz hammer, vs a blow from a 10 lb sledge hammer are going to see different reactions from the ER staff.
