Looking for a 3D plan
Hello,

I work with a physician who just bought himself a 3D printer. He’s offered to print me an angled friend grip for my AR. My foregrip has the mlock system. I can find plans for the picatiny system, but not the mlock.

Any chance anyone here might have a 3D plan for the angled foregrip using an mlock attachment style that they could either link me to or email to me?

Those angled friend grips can be hard to find, unless he's a good friend that is.

I doubt it's worth looking too hard.
The print will split at the layers, especially at the small points of the mount - picatiny/mlok/keymod are just too small for a 3D printed part to hold up to the stress.

I printed a picatiny adapter to find the riser height I liked on my AR - no way I'd use it for anything more stringent.

At a minimum, you'd need a quality PETG filament or better polycarbonate or the newer fiber particle infused filaments

PLA will warp if left in a car on hot summer day. And PLA is likely what your printing with a low end FDM printer

Also, there are VOC considerations if you are a home hobbyist printer. Some filaments are more friendly than others and since its relatively new nobody actually knows the long-term implications of exposure.

If your friend is getting into 3D printing to fully utilize the technology you need to know how to modifiy the models. There are a lot of open source CAD packages available.

grabcad did not have an mlock model available

Ok, thank you.

He’s an MD now, but was an engineer before med school. He has CAD, but I was hoping to provide him with a simple project. I’ll see if modifying it is within his scope at this time on his learning curve.
