So I work and live in two different places. Home on a foundation is Carlsbad, NM, work home on wheels (5th wheel) is in Jackson SC. I spend most of my time in SC. Company pays for a home trip for me once a month, and that home trip is either me actually going home to Carlsbad and spending time with my wife, or us "meeting in the middle" somewhere. I've done this for years, and it's not likely to change until I retire, which really isn't all that far off (3-5 years or so). It seems like I have two of everything (or at least a lot of things), one in each place - two circular saws, two reloading setups, two mountain bikes, two kayaks - you get the picture. I also have two capable off-road vehicles - a Jeep in NM and a Tacoma in SC. I'm finding that I'm not using the Jeep for its intended purpose more than once a year, if even that. For that reason, I see no compelling reason to keep it. It's a '14 JKUR, low mileage (~33K), with a fair amount of professionally-installed mods - lift, tires/ wheels, front and rear bumpers, winch, lights, roof rack, etc. I tried half-heartedly to sell it in Carlsbad last fall, but the market there is limited, and like I said, it was a half-hearted attempt. Selling it in NM with me in SC is not easy either. My thought is to bring it back to SC when I go home over Memorial Day and sell it here. How would you sell it? It's been so long since I private-party bought or sold a vehicle that the game has changed. There's Craigslist, Auto/Truck trader. I deleted my FB account, so Marketplace is out. Anything else? Places like Carvana will only offer reasonable book value, not taking into account the mods. (I'm realistic about that - I don't expect to recoup my cost, but I do expect to get some sort of premium, as they are nice.) Carmax might be an option, once I get it here and take it to show them in person. Or they may take the Carvana approach. Other ideas? How about a SF discount? Not really in the market, but you never know. That is a nice looking set up. I would think that would be a pretty easy sell. There is probably an off road shop or two in your area (NM). Stop in a talk with them. Bet with a word of two to the right person. You would find a buyer, mo-riki-tic. i had good luck a couple years ago simply parking it in a high traffic parking lot with a 'For Sale' sign in the windows took my Tacoma to a grocery store parking lot -- parked it near the main entrance drive. listed a few basic details on the signs inside the glass. the nice thing about that is people seeing it are nearby and 'real' potential buyers... vs internet tire kickers you have to drive who-knows-how-far to possibly show the vehicle to it worked -- Tacoma sold quickly. whatever you do -- be sure to take safety precautions i also sold a vehicle through Carmax. it was pretty painless. the nice thing is -- even if you don't sell it to them -- you get a quote giving you a ball-park range of what it 'might' be worth. obviously they have massive market data ... but they of course are building in some profit for themselves but the Carmax route is very 'clean' and quick -- you can literally walk out the door with a check in hand ----------------------------------- Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

The problem is that "my area" isn't really NM, but SC. And there aren't that many shops in general in Carlsbad, off-road or otherwise, and those that we have tend to focus on oilfield vehicles - commercial pickups, etc. Which is why my thought is I can more effectively sell it where I spend most of my time - SC. Thanks for the compliment! It is a nice rig. Craigslist is the way I would sell that thing. Take the time to make a high quality listing with good pics and price it fair. Don't put your phone number on the ad, let the emails roll in and give your number to the serious sounding buyers. I sold a Jeep on Craigslist the same day for asking price in a market half this good. .

Is there a local, on line marketplace? In Utah we have KSL Classifieds and some FB pages for items for sale, even some local Jeep pages. It should be easy to sell, I'd avoid Craigslist just because of the tire kickers and scammers. That is a nice rig, it'll draw a lot of attention. I have a similar one, same year. ________________________________ "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

FB Marketplace I have sold a few items there including a car, just got to weed out scammers, tire kickers and assholes

Craigslist ads work and Jeeps are hot. This would sell in hours in Louisville if priced right and plenty of high quality pictures. Do not put your phone # in ad - do it all by email and keep bs detector on high. ________________________ God spelled backwards is dog

I have good luck buying and selling on CL. Start watching jeeps in your preferred market area. See how quickly they sell based on the asking prices. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

Sent an email to your profile email with inquire of your JKUR. I’m getting ready myself to sell a vehicle and having a hard time figuring out the best place to sell also. But it seems nowadays most are using FB Marketplace or CL. In the past I’ve had good luck selling on CL. But this vehicle Im selling probably should be seen by a specific customer base and I’m having a hard time finding that place. I've been successful with both Craigslist and Marketplace. Good pictures help and thorough discription too. A low mileage rubicon from a no-rust state? Sheeeeeet. You can basically name your price. I’d say join a couple of Jeep forums. Look at their for sale threads. I bet you can sell that thing for top dollar in a week. I would NOT take the easy way out (Carmax, Carvanna, etc.) It’s good that you’re realistic about the accessories, but you’ve still got a gem. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard. -JALLEN "All I need is a WAR ON DRUGS reference and I got myself a police thread BINGO." -jljones

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
I would start out in the classifieds here if it is OK with management. At least you have some idea who you are dealing with and a nationwide audience. Otherwise, I've had decent luck with craigslist IF you use a few basic filters. No texts, at least for initial contact. That seems to screen out at least 90%+ of the spammers, scammers, and general undesirables. Do not put your number or email in the general text. They have a contact link that filters out the email and goes through their system until you are willing and able to share that info with the potential customer. Say that you don't accept texts in the description part and explain (briefly) why. Real prospects understand. Give your general location, city/town and state but nothing else until you need to give more specific info. Take good photos showing the stuff you want to see if you were the buyer and a good written description. Don't put anything in there you don't want the world to know. Be realistic in your pricing. At least get a price from the Carvana & Carmax type places and research on the Jeep type forums. Remember, everyone thinks theirs is more special than the other sellers and often overprice. Even look at eBay for sold prices. Put your description into the search and look just to the right of the search box to "advanced search". Then look at completed listings and sold listings to see the real world. Good luck. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

I have used craigslist successfully in the past, however, they now charge for car ads. Charging for ads is fine, but seems to be a lot less private sellers on there now. I put my 88 F350 on craigslist, cars.com, and a few others last year. Amazingly, I sold it in less than 12 hours on cars.com, at asking price, to a guy that drove to CO from Cincinnati. Other online places are carmax, carfax, carvana, ebay, autotrader, etc. Some are free to list. Couldn't hurt to just take some pics, and put up a listing. As others have said, that Jeep should sell quickly. Good luck with your sale! Mike You can run, but you cannot hide. If you won't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

All you need to know, list it on "Bringatrailer.com", those people always seem to pay higher than market value and I doubt you will get more anywhere else. Just take a lot of good pictures and add some videos.

Same thought as jjtova - search the internet to find groups that do serious off road stuff. A guy I use to work with spent almost every weekend at Uwharrie in NC doing off doing stuff. I'm not sure what forums they have, but here's info on Uwharrie. Don't know how long a drive it would be for you but maybe attend an event or two and you might meet someone that would love to have your set up. Speak softly and carry a
