Elk HunterI/we have seen a couple incidents in which snakes climb. Black snakes three times.
One had climbed the cement block wall in our house that was under construction. It was in the above ground basement. Daughter walked into the house one night, and had one fall from above the door and land across her arms. Let out a scream which woke mom and I. I caught the snake and took it outside and let it go in the brush.
Found 1 here at the house some time ago. It was about half way into a bird house. I grabbed it by the tail and disengaged it from the bird house. It was not happy.

I have seen a few copperheads, and none were that color.

I don't think so. Even though there are some variations in tone, and the babies can appear grayish, the markings don't look right.
