I watched this the other day. Some of them I was pretty surprised about the results.

Very cool video showing what happens with blocked barrels.

If he just took a cartridge, loaded a bullet with no powder and primer fired a Squibb. Then loaded a normal cartridge.
The damn thing would fire both rounds. The barrel would swell, the slide would be locked by then swollen barrel, and the gun would be rendered useless.
This happened to me 27 years ago with a shitty reload and no common sense.
Squibbed a round at the range. It was a beautiful 70’s circa Colt 1911, nickel or stainless, too dumb to know at the time. It was shiny and pretty and had real ivory grips.
So the round didn’t fire and we were like WTF? No one cleared the gun or dropped the magazine.
Back at the house, BBQ is on, many people having a great time.
Gun gets passed around. Confused
It’s aimed at the refrigerator and the trigger is pulled. Eek
Dear god, what a boom.
Squibb goes through the fridge, garage, garage door, and into the neverland of Sedona.
The hot round or “cue ball” makes it through the fridge door, and hits a stainless crock of “jungle juice” or “spodie”, depending where you are from.

You have no idea how much I check a gun to make sure it is clear after that shitshow.

Well. Come on. People ran screaming or just sat staring until someone laughed and everyone stepped away from the gun at the same time ?

No one laughed.
Well, no one thought it was fucking cool. Hell, fire off a live one in a house with a bunch of people and you tell me.
Oh, do it when you’re 19 and don’t know shit from Shinola.
Yeah, I’d say most people didn’t run away thinking they were going to die, but there wasn’t a person in the room that thought, “shit, lets do that again”.

I guess what I forgot to mention what how many people looked at it, down the barrel, before the live round was fired.

Be a skeptic all you want. Think back to when you were a dumbass kid and how that would stay in your memory.

No judgement. I ran with some idiots at time, they could say the same. Just wondered what the heck happens after that even in that environment.

Glad nobody was hurt. That’s a miracle.

Kind of surprised not one barrel visibly swelled with the more tenacious blockages; I suspect the "slower" 45acp may have played a small role in the over something with a bit more zip.

I'd be curious to see if there were any differences detectable with a micrometer- even fractionally. Also, I'd like to see a test with intentional squib blockages.

After the oh shit moment was over, and we realized there was no way to tell Bill’s mom anything but the truth about the fridge, well, everything carried on as normal, aside if making sure all the firearms were put away properly.

Hi-Points work. For, say, a dishwasher that gets off at midnight and has to walk home (as I once was), it's an affordable option.

I was thinking the same thing. If he were more adventurous he’d have tried .40 S&W. If really adventurous .357 Sig (if Hi Points come in that). Or, if he really had a death wish, 10mm. Wink

My theory is that the Hi-Point is a unlocked breech blowback gun, the slide is super heavy. Plus it probably starts to open with the obstruction so the pressure isn't high enough to split the barrel.

Or, Hi-Points are the pinnacle of handgun technology and quality.
