I don’t have a sweet tooth. 90% or 100% chocolate is the only thing that could be considered candy that I keep on hand.

“Eating just a few squares of dark chocolate every day lowers blood pressure in just one month, a study suggests.
……
Researchers in Portugal believe this is due to dark chocolate being richer in the powerful antioxidant flavanols.

The benefits of chocolate have been extensively studied, particularly when it comes to our heart health.

Flavanols have been linked to everything from reduced insulin resistance to weight regulation and even faster wound healing.

There is therefore a huge amount of scientific interest in how eating flavanol-rich foods many influence our wellbeing…”

I think 90% is pretty stout.

There's a place in St Paul that makes truffles in various percentages of chocolate. 86% seems to be perfect for me.

Indeed chocolate is supposed to have health benefits, and I'm a chocaholic. But there's no way I'm eating 90% or better. So, since I'm still on my "no unnecessary carbs" diet, chocolate, like alcohol, is off the table for me right now.

I eat some every day. Stronger than this gets pretty bitter. Available locally at good prices compared to online.

I’ve been mixing hershey’s 100% dark chocolate powder into my protein shakes for years. Easiest way to take it.

Hmmm... How much per scoop of protein powder?

Not certain it would go well with the MusclePharm Combat Cookies and Cream flavour I'm currently using, but would probably work in the Vanilla ON 100% Whey and that wossname Chocolate that are the others I use.

Aldi has dark chocolate bars, like the one that Ripley pictured above, in Aldi's house brand.

There are a bunch of different concentrations. I like the 62%.

I use Combat as well. I’m pretty generous with the chocolate powder scoops, usually a big heaping spoonful. It doesn’t take away from, or over power the cookies and cream, or any flavor really...not bitter, just more chocolatey.

The powder is Way cheaper than the bars too.

A big heaping table spoon!

However, I should probably look up what the suggested serving is in the powder form.

So if you’re prone to kidney stones, don’t eat it.

FWIW – I eat one half ounce square of 100% chocolate each day, and I’m not depressed! Of course I also have some excellent pipe tobaccos… Smile

“People who regularly eat dark chocolate are less likely to be depressed, researchers have claimed today.

Scientists quizzed more than 13,000 people about their chocolate consumption and symptoms of depression.

They found volunteers who reported eating any dark chocolate were significantly less likely to report any clinical signs of depression.

However, no such link existed among volunteers who reported eating milk or white chocolate, according to the experts.

University College London researchers admitted they could not prove chocolate combats depression and experts said further trials are needed…”

I also buy the Aldi dark chocolate. At $2.00 a bar, it’s a bargain. I always buy several and leave it on the break room table at work, the ladies love it! The Sea Salt Dark Chocolate seems to be the most popular.
