On rare occasions the ACLU does the right thing. Accent on “rare”.

The way I see it, they had to stick up for the NRA. If they didn't it would open the door for the same kind of attack on an organization they do support and then they would be in the proverbial rock/ACLU/hard place.

I'm shocked the ACLU jumped in on this one, but cautiously encouraged. Cuomo's gone way to far with this, and if there was actually a functioning news industry, he'd be getting crucified for his illegal behavior.

I am not at all surprised by this. I’m not saying I generally like the causes that the ACLU sides with, but I think they generally are on the side of liberty.

I am sure that I disagree with their position at times, but I think they are generally consistent with their positions, in that they tend to support individual liberty from the overreaching of government.

Remember the whole thing about disagreeing with a position but defending the right to voice it?

Also, many people who think they are “conservative” actually are not- they like government telling people what to do- just what they want them to do.

Honestly, I think most people just want what they want and they’re happy when they get it. Most people who get what they want don’t question or criticize how they got it. Apparently the ACLU cares about the big picture.
