Hey monoblok....my e-mail address is in my profile. Please shoot me an e-mail and let me know how you like your Banshee. I bought an AR-15 from CMMG in 2010 and love it...fine product. I'd LOVE to add a 5" Banshee to my safe and shoulda done it 5 years ago. Thanks!! "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Does it have to be monoblok? I have a bunch of these if you mean pistol caliber ones (and I would assume that is what you are looking for with a 5" barrel). I have the glock mag and sig mag versions as well as an upper in 5.7x28. They have all run fine. I have both 5" and 8" and definitely prefer the 8" ones. The only actual issue I have had is a finish defect on one of them and since I beat the cr** out of any finish that's applied I didn't bother to ask them to address it. Of course the underlying issue on the short barrel versions is what happens in the brace/sbr world as running them without a stock is pretty useless (IMO). I sbr'd mine. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Thanks for responding, hrcjon!! No...it doesn't have to be a response specifically from monoblok. His post was the first post I've seen on the boards that mentioned a CMMG Banshee. As I stated, I like the CMMG product I have and just wanted some feedback on their Banshee pistol AR. I'm looking to purchase the CMMG in .40 S&W flavor, so if you have that brand, that is a bonus! And lastly, can you please elaborate on what makes the 8" preferable over the 5" for you? Thanks again!! "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. I don't have a .40 one. But I'm would think it uses the same glock lower and that's been fine. Of course if you don't know AR mags have the cutout on the rear and glock mags have the cutout on the front so there is always a somewhat kludgy mechanism to support mag release, and these are way stiffer than a traditional AR one. But there is the same issue on my B&T glock lower and the CMMG one isn't any worse than that one. On barrel length the 8" one just gives me a reasonable amount of room to put my support hand about where it would be on an AR and where I like it. (reminder note I'm running a stock on these so that may not apply if you aren't) If I wasn't so lazy I could solve it on the 5" barrels since I run suppressed and just get a longer handguard. Anyway the bottom line is that they have been good enough for what I use them for that I have bought a few of them without any issues. And separately I have had to deal with CMMG on a few issues (not related to these guns) and they have done a decent job on customer service for me. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

I have a 5in 45acp Banshee with ~1,500 trouble free rounds through it. Patiently waiting for my Osprey 2.0 to be let out of jail so it can (mostly) live on the Banshee. As stated, only ‘issue’ might be the lack of real estate for your support hand but there’s a nice little hand stop at the end of the handguard to help your hand avoid slipping in front of the muzzle. I’ve become accustomed to holding it by the magwell without issue.
