I got my Lodge officers a custom made present.

Question:
when do you open an unexpected gift just handed to you?

Choices:
immediatly
open immediatly and display it
anytime I get a minute
Christmas Mornin

I usually ask the giver if I can open it then and there, unless I'm busy with something and then I'd say, "Thanks. I'll open it when I get a chance."

No real hard-and-fast rule on what I do.

I think a gift like that is usually opened when given. The giver most likely expects you to open it, and will undoubtedly be gratified when you are happily surprised and offer your genuine and enthusiastic thanks.

If it is a bottle of hooch, offer to share a toast!

The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.
