Oh brother. State Farm does 68 BILLION. Progressive 56 BILLION. Geico 41 BILLION. The list goes on and on.
Lemonade on the other hand is available in ten (10) states. Total. Tell us again how important this news piece is. Besides that the PR dept of Lemonade probably pushed this “story” to get free advertising.

Yep.
Insurance is big business. It takes huge revenues & assets to adequately deal with potential claims. According to data from Beinsure Media and AM Best, Lemonade is not in the 75 largest insurance companies in the USA & Canada for either assets or revenues. Evidently, Lemonade doesn't employ humans to process claims -- they're processed via AI and chatbots. Oh boy, that sounds like fun.

pedropcolaWhich has nothing to do with your idiotic title. The death of human driving. No wonder your economic beliefs are so ridiculous. Everything is over the top hyperbole to you.
The death of human driving. Only the wealthy will be able to afford recreational driving. Oh fucking brother. Tell us about flying cars next please.

kz1000I enjoy driving. My car is as analog as a 2021 model can be. Plan to drive it for 25 more years.

SIG4EVAJust had a friend get a new Tesla. Made it to FL and back to NC in FSD mode. My friend is a great driver, was alert and holding the wheel. What scares me is his wife trusts it completely and is messing with everything but driving with it.

pedropcolaHow soon is that level of tech going to filter over to ice or hybrid vehicles?
I find it interesting. I wouldn’t buy an EV just to get it nor pay a hundred a month for it but is it technical hurdles that keep it out of the mainstream?
I am talking Tesla level tech not the other versions that seem short of actual autopiloting.

I'd definitely like to see the flying cars!
Just an observation, BUT...Anyone else find it ironic that the member fervently carrying the flag on this subject, more specifically the inevitable elimination/death of 'human driving' justified by a predicted reduction in accidents has the user name 'FenderBender'? Sometimes the jokes just write themselves!

As long as I have the capacity to drive, I will pay for that privilege. Sports car romps on mountain roads, off-road 4WD, rural roads & driving around the family ranch in a real 4WD long-bed truck -- nobody's taking these from me. Especially a "WTF are they?" niche insurance provider that nobody's heard of before.
My man! Add in sportbike romps in my rural mountains, and MX 450 on the National Forest roads in the same mountain range, and we are 150%. Riding/driving is my 2nd biggest passion in life. I’ve spent a lot of money in training for both and like a firearm, you can try to pry it from dead, cold fingers.
For commuting/errands, what’s hilarious is I’ve been driving a pos small, EV hatchback for 12 years now, straight. Same vehicle. No wrecks, no accidents, no tickets in that time. And what’s hilarious is it has no ADAS (driver aids) whatsoever outside of ABS and regular old school cruise control. My take on all this, society in general. We were all better off when the PC was at home on a desk, and not available in your pocket or mounted to your dash. GPS, buy a GPS unit that mounts to your dash. Everyone was forced to listen to music, enjoy the drive, even a commute, and the most distracted driving you’d see on any regular basis would be some clown eating his Arby’s, etc. Way better situation vs. today with every other idiot, nearing 50% playing with my precious 6” screen having to finger bang it. I’ve said for over a decade, being a motorcyclist, I’d love to see a federal or state law in every state where you can mount my precious to your dash for GPS or as a radio station or both, but get caught looking down, or scrolling, social medias, etc, and just like a DUI. Instant arrest, go directly to jail. Instead few places have distracted driving laws. Here it’s just school zones. And instead of addressing the problem and arresting folks via law/code, it’s been punted to the public sector and automobile manufacturers to solve the issue and it’s costing us ever increasing MSRP’s to the tune of 20-33% increases on new vehicle costs, and skyrocketed insurance rates. Then if you do get into a wreck of any kind fixing the camera, or just replacing a windshield, or replacing radar sensors and such is a massive cost increase for you and your insurer. And you don’t get a choice. ADAS is on just about every new vehicle sold in America now. Massive cost for everyone and very little benefit. It’s not stopping Karen and Chad from surfing their phone, while they drive. It’s not stopping wrecks to offset the insurmountable cost increases.
What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Hey! If you can't eat a Whopper with cheese and fries with a large Coke sitting in your crotch on the seat while steering with your knee, then you have no business on the road!

DoctorSolo^^^Good point.
I will say not all drivers are created equal, as has been mentioned.
People that are scared of driving, or physically impaired, or foreigners with a year or two of experience, uninsured drug addicts--please give them all FSD. I'll take my chances! All of our rates would go down.
Having said that, cars and trucks serve a lot of different roles in this country. FSD only solves pure commuting and somewhat will raise the bar for urban drivers. I have seen FSD for myself and I will say it is pretty damn impressive, and the software is continuously getting updates, it's only going to improve.
I do not see ICE pickups or sports cars going away unless the communists win, and then that's the least of our problems at that point.

GM's Supercruise their version of Teslas FSD is available on 15 models not just EV's, Fords BlueCruise is available across all their lines and again, no just EV.
As for the comment earlier about "only wealthy" well, it's been that way since the beginning of time, every major system upgrade starts on higher end vehicles, LED Headlights, parking sensors, cameras, better engines and transmissions, you name it, it almost always rolls out on the more expensive cars before it hits mainstream.
Pretty much that way for everything, TV, Computers, Phones, you name it.
At some point you'll have to have the telematics in your vehicle to get insurance, Flo's little device that you agree to use to track your driving won't be optional. Either do it, or no insurance, big brother always wins over personal privacy when your activities can affect others...

I definitely see the irony, that's why I'm so astute on what's going on with driver trends.

flesheatingvirusI still vividly remember the first time I took an Uber. I'd never ridden in a taxi at that point either. I was nervous as hell and have no interest in having a car drive me at this point.

I have many trips logged in Uber/Lyft, and two in a FSD Tesla.
I'd take the FSD every time in this decision tree.

springnrAs a retiree the model Y all wheel drive w/FSD is calling my name as a way to avoid airports.
I would like to see data on how well FSD does in reverse. FSD should be able to drive in reverse or forward with equal ability. No FSD when reversing with a trailer as it blocks cameras.

pedropcolaPut me in the camp of more scared in Ubers than a self driving car. Uber drivers are a sketchy bunch at times.
