| It’s an economic fact that “stimulus” plans lengthen recessions/depressions. But it ‘feels’ good to the dems to be ‘doing something’. Obama lengthened the Great Recession and FDR lengthened the Great Depression with all of his “New Deal” programs. The appearance of “doing something” makes it easier for dems to convince low information voters that they are working for them and they should be re-elected. The best course of action is for govt to get the hell out of the way and do nothing and allow the market to cleanse itself. Economic recovery happens MUCH faster that way. https://mises.org/library/new-deal-debunked-again

| Whatever gains the economy had under Obama was in spite of him, not because of him. |

| I have to agree w/ the OP. The DT tax cuts were simply an unneeded sugar high for the economy which has already worn off. Form an economy POV, things continued to grow.

| Honestly, deregulation has probably been more useful in taking the government boot off the neck of business. But tax cuts do help. Lowering taxes on investments increase the ROI, encourages greater investment, resulting in greater productivity and an expanding economy.

| All I hear from Democrats is that this economy is not that great - that it has only benefitted the rich and that the poor and middle class are getting squeezed and screwed.
Is that what Obama is taking credit for? Or is he admitting that the economy is actually pretty good for everyone? |

The economy is terrible. All these people being tempted by paychecks into getting jobs when they could have been perfectly happy collecting food stamps and welfare checks for the rest of their lives. Remember when the Democraps were celebrating the loss of American jobs? And that we were all going to have so much free time? Or that the decline of America and the ascendancy of China was inevitable? Or that the manufacturing jobs were gone forever? Or how we had to lower our expectations? Or that high unemployment and low growth were the new normal? These things are not normal or inevitable except under socialist/leftist governments. Under socialism, decline is inevitable, and eventually everyone starves.
God Bless and Protect the Once and Future President, Donald John Trump. |

This, the reason unemployment went down so much during Obama's second term is because after 30 months of being un-employed (I think it is) people are no longer counted as being un-employed. |

Yes, I’m kinda surprised that halfwit is still being mentioned. Hasn’t PDJT made him completely irrelevant by now? |

No double standards
| A couple of thoughts come to mind whenever I see such analysis. Confirmation Bias, ie, select and analyze data in a way that supports your predetermined end result. You tell me what you want to prove, I can provide stats and graphs that will support you. And my stat prof would comment, "many use statistics/data in the way a drunk uses a light post, to prop themselves up rather than for any light they may provide.
"Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it....While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it" - Judge Learned Hand, May 1944 |

Exactly. And all those questions Obummer asked "Exactly how is he gonna do that?" weren't rhetorical, he really wanted to know. ![Smile](https://sigforum.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) |

“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” Apparently not originated by Mark Twain, but certainly popularized by him. |

+ 1 Trillion- The deregulation gave businesses hope. The low unemployment shows it. This is good. It's Art Laffer- The Laffer Curve guy. He's polite towards obama but gives credit where credit due. quote: Obama has not caused the Trump economy: Art Laffer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcWdhfqabJI
