People suck.
The world sucks.
Politics sucks.
Murder and Mayham rule the day.....

Or not. How about we take a second to post a tiny simple good thing.

I'll start and I am not even going to talk about the blessings of family, child. I am even going to go simpler.....

I have two old friends who visit just about once a year, a 720 mile week off from work trip. Typically they come and share Thankgiving with us. Holy hell am I lucky to have friends who are like brothers.

I needed to move furniture today. I ask a local buddy and no muss no fuss he was there to help me lug some furniture. It's a simple gesture but in a complicated world ...... simple gestures are starting to mean a lot.

Somebody asked for prayers today here. I didn't post but took the time out to say actual prayers with a heartfelt amen and I know damn well if I asked others would do the same and that matters.

So in our batshit crazy world, what simple thing have you possibly overlooked that actually means something that actually makes the world a better place.

How's about we focus on a little slice of simple goodness for a bit? I promise we can go back to the doom and gloom later.....it'll wait. Smile

I don't know if this has been posted before, but today is the first time I've seen it. If you think that there's no way something like this could happen for real, I know for a fact someone who did something very similar to this, and some people didn't believe it really happened then either. I won more Genuine Karma today than I could have in an entire year, and more than anyone person should have. I was gifted a pristine Sig Sauer classic P228 by one of our outstanding members, 12131. Not because I'm so awesome or something, but because 12131 is one of our most kind and generous members, and because he is full of awesome! More on this in a thread to come later.

Yeah that 12131 guy makes us all look bad. Wink

Seriously though. You are a blessing to this place and have brought a lot of joy to folks. I think I speak for everybody when I say you go above and beyond and it's not necessary. Hell your karmas have brought me a lot of joy. Smile.

I was at a small local lake last evening. Perfect fall evening with the leaves changing colors all around the lake.
I am lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Cool thread.

Mine:

We had our fall recruiting event for Cub Scouts last night, and my den doubled in size to 22 (whoa) kindergarten and 1st graders.

My co-DL and I run the Lion and Tiger dens concurrently so we can share the older boys' experience with the younger ones.

I'm going to be Cubmaster in a few months, and it feels great knowing that there is still a good base of people wanting their kids to be involved in the program.

Tonight is many of these kids' first experience in the Scouting program, and I get to lead the whole mess of 22 by myself.

It's going to be a challenge, but we're going to have a heck of a lot of fun!

I'm still focused on that darned cat we adopted. While walking the dogs last night we ran into a neighbor (who also has a Beagle) and we stopped to chat.

We asked if she knew who lost the cat. She said she didn't but she had seen it a few days ago and several people tried to catch it, but it wouldn't go near anyone.

That's the cat the walked up our sidewalk, directly to me and "meowed". It's somewhat of a pain adjusting our lives and making sure all the critters get along, but I feel good that the poor cat found a new home with us - and really does seem to have picked us. It really is the little things in life...

Right now, I'm on a trip and my needs are simple.

Yesterday, I slept for 16 hours. Minus a bit of wakefulness here and there. In bed at 8am woke up at midnight. It's going to play merry hell with my rest schedule but what the heck.

Sixteen. Freakin'. Hours.

Must have needed it.

I had Monday off.
I got the kids up, fed & off to a marching band competition early.
I laid back down & slept another 30 minutes.
I rode my newly shod HD Roadster tonthe Feed Store and proceeded to drink coffee and socialize until the gun store opened, where I drank more coffee and socialized. Smile
I managed to run nearly a tank of fuel through the bike before going home.

Yesterday was a perfect Fall day. Bright, warm.

I hopped on my motorcycle and rode my favorite route. Some (most...) times I ride it quickly for the fun of blasting through the twisties. This time I just motored through, at or even under the speed limit, enjoying the warm day, the Fall colors, the flow of the road.

And I thought "How on earth did I get so lucky? I live in a beautiful part of the world, I have a comfortable home, not a financial care in the world and the time to do pretty much anything I please."

Two weekends ago, my wife and I rented kayaks from Motor City Canoe Rental, in as many months, to paddle along the Huron River for several hours. The morning was quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed watching the wildlife and seeing the colors changing. This time around, there was a bit of a current to help us along and although it took us about the same two and a half hours, we took breaks from paddling to enjoy the surroundings and arrived at the pickup site not so exhausted that we slept the afternoon away like last time Smile

On a different note, got a very nice response to a letter written a few months back:

P.S.: also think that our 12131 is absolutely AWESOME ! ! ! Smile

Some time ago while fishing with my youngest grandson, I witnessed the most incredible sunset I have ever seen. Had the feeling that God gave that to me. Truly humbling experience.

Still tear up when remembering it.
