Many of you have heard of Joe Foss and his role on Guadalcanal, but I bet not as many know the whole story and what happened with him after that. It's a pretty interesting story.

G. Gordon Liddy used to have him on his radio show every now and then back in the 90's. I was a regular listener of the G-Man. Major Foss was always great on the show.

Thanks for posting that. Not the typical documentary but really had me at the end.

I read his biography decades ago. While he was a terrific Marine fighter pilot, he was just just as successful after the war. A giant of a man.

Learn about the rest of The Cactus Air Force.

Those men, aviators, ground aviation personnel, and mud Marines alike, fought hard and did mortal damage to IJA and IJN aviation and naval assets.

Brunings' book is excellent, BTW.
