I had occasion to sit across the aisle from this horrible woman a few years back on the same route. She waltzed on with her Congressional pin and the flight attendants immediately started to treat her like royalty. I immediately knew who she was. She was obnoxious, condescending, and acted entitled.

When it came time to serve the lunch (it was first class), she told them can't you see I am trying to rest; get me another blanket.

I watched her throughout the flight and was amazed that anyone could act like this in this day and age. Not a thought for others. No indication of politeness. I remember this years later because I have never seen anything like this outside of the movies.

Here is hoping she is someday exposed and suffers the consequences of her arrogance.

0658 -- In the situation that you described, I would have been hard pressed to keep my mouth shut.

I would have no problem, absolutely none at all, explaining to the honorable congresswoman, that the need to be polite and considerate is not terminated as the result of an election. My thought: what are they going to do? Put me in jail? Probably not, as long as my tone and demeanor are not confrontational.

It's been years since I have flown United, and this shows why.

I believe that airlines routinely upgrade members of congress.

How else can they get the legislation that gives them the freedom to do whatever they want?

"Service Fees" (baggage, etc) are not revenue and are not taxed.
Horrible customer service and no consequences
Lying to customer about "weather" or whatnot....

I hate flying on any airline other than SWA

From the article:
quote:

The airline announced policy changes ... and its CEO, Oscar Munoz, has promised a "culture shift toward becoming a better, more customer-focused airline."

I didn't believe it then. I don't believe it now.

Of all the product and service industries in the U.S., I dare say the airlines may be exceeded in customer disservice only by perhaps the broadband industry. Big difference there is not being able to get your Netflix fix isn't on quite the same level as being stranded for hours on end, having your valuable belongings lost or pilfered, being physically abused or getting killed as a result of maintenance misfeasance.

I believe the person in that United pulled a fast one.
I think United cancelled their reservation as an excuse to seat the Representative.
United lied.

And Jackson Lee?
She was the one visiting NASA when the Mars rover landed on Mars.
She asked if they could wheel it around and get a shot of the US Flag Neil Armstrong planted.

The only more stupid thing ever said was some other rep talking about Guam tipping over.

From the link:

"It was just so completely humiliating," said Jean-Marie Simon, a 63-year-old attorney and private school teacher who used 140,000 miles on Dec. 3 to purchase the first-class tickets to take her from Washington D.C. to Guatemala and back home.

When it came time to board the last leg of her flight home from George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Dec. 18, after a roughly hour-long weather delay, Simon said the gate attendant scanned her paper ticket and told her it was not in the system.

I'm surprised United let her use Mileage Plus miles that close to Christmas when they can make $$ selling the seats. Yeah, she used 140K (that seems like a lot), but I always assumed "free" seats were real scarce close to the holidays.

I thought it was a tax dodge or something.

Quite the year United has had, eh?

And I love Sheila's comments. Classy as can be.
A smart politician would have said something like "I am sorry for the confusion surrounding my seat. Had I known about it at the time, I would have gladly switched seats with Ms. So-and-So."

But that's what a smart politician would have said. That's not SJL.

Keeping it classy.

"Since this was not any fault of mine, the way the individual continued to act appeared to be, upon reflection, because I was an African American woman, seemingly an easy target along with the African American flight attendant who was very, very nice," Jackson Lee said in the statement.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown
