Pipe SmokerChristine Drazan – Nike co-founder says he will do anything to stop Democrats in Oregon
“Oregon's richest man said he would do whatever he could to end Democrats' 40-year hold on the state and prevent its nominee Tina Kotek winning the race to be the next governor.
Last week, Phil Knight, the billionaire co-founder of Nike, donated $1 million to Republican candidate Christine Drazan after bankrolling the campaign of an independent who has turned the election into a toss-up.
Analysts said his two-horse strategy suggested Knight was intent on keeping the Democrat out of the governor's mansion.
A swath of the electorate in this liberal state has turned on the outgoing Democratic governor, blaming her for woke policies that have allowed an explosion of crime, drug use and homelessness. …”

HRKThat would be good for Oregon, perhaps the great reset experiment

it realizes the cost wasn't worth the effort..

Il Cattivo^^^ I love it when they eat their own. Not only is Knight taking money that could go to the Dems and spending it on the Reps, but it's an open admission that, if nothing else, even wokism has its limits. Think of this as basically a recall election on the DA in San Francisco and you're not too far wrong.

Don't know what his real motive is, but why would anyone with half a brain be bankrolling a 3rd party candidate initially, if you really want to knock the Dem out? You couldn't possibly think that a 3rd party candidate has a chance. Even Ross Perot, with all his billions, wasn't able to pull it off. And now, all of sudden, this guy is bankrolling the GOP candidate?

Il Cattivo^^^ Typically it's done to dilute votes that would go to the candidate you oppose. If a third candidate attracts votes that would have otherwise gone to the front runner then whoever would otherwise be in second place has the largest single group of votes.

It’s Oregon. If they have the choice between badmanorange, or a demorat, the dem will get the vote. Three options, the standard dem backs their candidate no matter how bad she may be, the dems with a brain vote for the indy. The people who are sick of the lawlessness vote for the republican. The republican wins by a minor margin.
If it was between the badmanorange candidate and the woke one, woke will always win.
You have to separate the complete mouth breathers from the Forrest Gumps then you get the rest to take the win.

radioman3 must have's this election for OR:
1] Make are Tina K. does NOT become Governor
2] Knock down Oregon Initiative 114, a Gun-Control Proposal which Ends All Gun Sales, at least for a while since there is no infrastructure in place which would be required for all gun sales. No money for said infrastructure either.
3] Get rid of the state senators who are are openly bankrolled by the Moms Demand Action Group.

Yeah, I'm having a difficult time finding any compassion for Nike or its leadership.

Expert308The independent, Betsy Johnson, has managed to strike a nerve (in a good way) with a lot of conservatives. She and the GOP Christine Drazan are both endorsed by the NRA. One of Kotek's ads labels Johnson as "the machine-gun owning Betsy Johnson", like that's a Bad Thing. Oooooohh, scary!.

Whether she really does own one or it's just more Kotek distortion, I don't know, but it has got a lot of attention. If she actually had a snowball's chance in hell of winning, I'd be sorely tempted to vote for her.
But Drazan is saying all the right things too, so she'll be my choice. It'll be my last official act as an Oregonian; I retired 2 days ago and I'm fleeing the Socialist Republic of Oregon at the end of the month.
As for Knight, he dropped a truck load of money on Johnson earlier in the campaign. My guess is he realized that she doesn't have a prayer and decided (late in the game) to back the candidate with the best shot at upsetting Kotek.

goose5The question is are the people of Oregon ready to vote for someone else? Their choices usually are left, socialist left, communist left, and one more step to the left and they fall off the planet.

Those are the ones everybody else hears about, courtesy of the mainstink media. There are usually good conservative candidates that reflect the wishes of the people that live in 4 fifths of the state's area. The problem is, the other fifth - Portland/Salem/Eugene - is where the bulk of the population live, and most of them are Dems.

Didn’t four or five eastern counties recent vote to succeed from Oregon?

Oat_Action_ManLooks like he stepped down from the Nike board in 2015 or 2016. So he founded it, but it's not his company anymore.

If I was 84 and worth $36 Billion, I might not go into the office everyday either. Knight is still the largest shareholder (17% of the company) and has influence. His son is a Director. I'm sure Knight keeps up with what is going on. If he didn't like what he saw he'd make a phone call.
I have a few SIGs.

Exactly! Nike supported this shit, hell, helped create this shit for how many years? A bunch of little Asian kids making all the products for way less than optimal wages in optimal conditions while Nike makes all the money.
Nike tossed $40 Million at black lies matter, continue to use and throw money to kapernack. Support the defund the police agenda, yet ask the government for help (funding) because of all the looting during the riots.
Nike got rid of the Betsy Ross shoe, because Nike deemed the original American Flag to be offensive.
Fuck Nike, fuck each and every one of them, I'll add their mothers to the pile as well. Nike deserves to rot in whatever cesspool they created.
