Curious about hydraulic winch tech and power supply.

Specifically,
If a guy wanted to operate a
12,000 pound capacity hydraulic winch ,
What
H.p. motor would it require to operate the pump ?

And would you need a oil cooler for either the engine or the pump ?

Application:vehicle recovery.

If you can nail down the specifications on the hydraulic motor that runs the winch you could determine the requirements for your pump/motor.

Required PSI and flow should be all the specs you need I should think.

There are so many unspecified elements in the problem.

If the "vehicle recovery" is from a moving motor vehicle, you could simply duplicate an existing wrecker. Those winches are effective.

And, you could look at Matt's Off-Road Recovery on YouTube and see how he builds his custom vehicle recovery vehicles. There is so much to think about.
