Norwegian military personnel discovered that rented Chinese-made cars automatically recorded and stored video footage during military exercises.
The Norwegian newspaper DN reported the incident.
The cars continued to be used throughout the exercises because few alternative vehicles were available.
Norwegian outlet Nettavisen drew attention to the supplier’s links to China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
The Norwegian Armed Forces use rental vehicles from First Rent A Car Norway AS, which operates under the Hertz brand, for daily activities, military exercises, and operational tasks.

HRKThe cars probably do that for anyone, anywhere, not specifically military, they just figured it out while using them, then, continued to use them...
All new vehicles have cameras and digital recording ability. GM's vehicles automatically capture data where ever you go, how you drive, speed, stopping, and the cameras record it.
You have to dig deep into the security settings to disable it. Ford, Mopar, Mercedes, Tesla, they all do it....
If you have a newer vehicle google how to turn it off, GM for example sells that information, to insurance companies. Your data can change your rates in an instant..... or even if you can get insurance.
Drive on to a base and it's going to record that as well...

IS capturing images and data. Look at in the same vein as Cooper's Rule Number One, Every Gun is Loaded. If one subscribes to the rule, one is less likely to encounter unintended circumstances.
