"Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has seven days to turn over luxury items and shares of his New York City co-op apartment to cover much of what he owes to two Georgia poll workers he defamed in 2020, a federal judge in New York ruled Tuesday."

I realize that it's questionable if he should have been subjected a judgement like this in the first place, but I also thought he was a smarter guy than he seems to be.

Getting himself in this mess and not having a better plan to protect substantial assets seems like poor planning for a public figure and lightning rod like him.

$148 Million judgements?!?! That’s seems ridiculously huge. So the people walk away with a lottery winning? I don’t see how what Giuliani said can have caused that much damage to these two people.

It's the same as E Jean "I think most people think of rape as sexy" Carrol being awarded $88 million or the $354 million Mar-a-Lago fines. It's sheer political lawfare.

Freeman and Moss last year won a $148 million judgment after a judge found Giuliani guilty of defaming them when he falsely accused the mother and daughter of committing election fraud while they were counting ballots in Georgia's Fulton County on Election Day in 2020.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I don't think the people will get any of it. Razz

Sarcasm aside, a hundred and forty-eight million bucks? Insane.

God bless America.

The rest of you people better get in line or else we’ll do to you what we did to him.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I assume Giuliani appealed the judgment, and the amount of the award in particular. Does anyone know if those appeals are concluded?

He is going to wish he was in Texas. Your house, even if luxurious is exempt from that sort of seizure to satisfy that kind of judgment. However, a bankruptcy trustee can get it, so maybe he would still be in trouble here.

He still has his $6.5mil condo in FL...which he's claiming as his primary residence.

The condo in NYC has been on the market, for $6.5mil, since his last appeal failed. No takers as I'm sure interested parties were hoping to get a deal as time ran out.

Hmmm, is that the same pair that was pulling boxes (suitcases?) of 'Ballots' from under the table (which were previously hidden by the table cloth(s)/skirting) after all of the Republican Observers were kicked out, and running them thru the Ballot Counting Machine MULTIPLE times? Could that have been another one of those situations where we were told NOT to believe what our 'lying eyes' were telling us as we watched the video when this occurred? Am I misremembering here?

Uhhh, I don't think so! Roll Eyes
