CromSelling an item online and buyer sent me cash which went missing
I don't know if it affects this situation or not, but I have sent packages via USPS, with tracking, and they have just disappeared. USPS just says "sorry". Their "tracking" just says "Yup....it disappeared between here and here.....too bad!"
No way to get any "investigation" going.

I told him to send it as a money order. He didn't disagree. Then all of a sudden he said he sent cash.
Then it sucks to be him, don't it?

honestlouIt's 2017, and we have the internet, and UPS and FedEx. Anyone who sends something important through the U.S.P.S. is just not too bright. Regardless, it is the buyer's responsibility to pay in a manner acceptable to the seller. Anytime I buy something the first thing I ask is "how would you like to be paid?"
If the story is as the OP told it, I wouldn't worry about the "buyer" complaining online affecting the OP's reputation. If the "buyer" says "I sent him cash by mail and he claims he didn't get it", the appropriate response would be "you moron".

So there is a new issue with this situation. Why did USPS claim initially it was delivered, only to have notes somewhere else in the USPS system which seems to indicate it wasn't? Seems like someone at USPS is at fault for the initial bad or incomplete tracking info.
Yeah what is up with this? USPS tracking says delivered, but there internal notes in their internal system says that envelope was addressed incorrectly? WTF? Shouldn't their tracking system say the same thing? "Unable to deliver as addressed, returning to sender" or something?

So right now his money is either on the way back to him or it is sitting at the bottom of a mail bin somewhere. This guy really went out of his way to make trouble for himself.
Or .... maybe he already got it back and is keeping quiet?

Crom "It all started innocently enough...just a typical buyer/seller transaction over the internet.
The buyer sent payment in an envelope via USPS..
.....with tracking.
It went to a UPS store mailbox; the tracking showed it arrived.......
But that's when it all went wrong.
..............Oh, so horribly wrong!

Not necessarily his money is going back to him, but possibly the empty envelope.

I had that happen too. Sent a "care package" to a military unit in Afghanistan. Had tracking from USPS.
Package wasn't delivered after several weeks. Local post office said "just wait". After about 8 weeks called the special office that sends the packages over seas (forget their name).
They said w that long, there was definitely a problem. Back to the local office. They couldn't track it past one stop after it left the local office. They said nothing they could do. All the tracking crap was utterly useless.
