I'm considering a family trip to see this place. https://saudervillage.org/ Any suggestions for things along the way or near the destination to do or see, places to eat, etc. would be appreciated. Traveling by car from eastern PA along I80 and I90 to get there. Looks like a version of Williamsburg, VA in that state. I have never traveled west of Gettysburg. So it is all new territory to me. --Tom The right of self preservation, in turn, was understood as the right to defend oneself against attacks by lawless individuals, or, if absolutely necessary, to resist and throw off a tyrannical government.

Grew up in Ohia, but I've never spent much time up there (NW corner). I went to a huge flea market/swap meet near Archbold as a teenager, but that's it. Not sure how much goof-off time you might have, but I would recommend heading due south towards Dayton and going to the Air Force Museum. That place is the largest aviation museum in the world, and has a LOT of one-of-a-kind aircraft. I would rather visit there than the Smithsonian. You can see most of it in one full day, but I've heard many people recommend you take at least two full days. Admission is free. Growing up in Ohia, I visited there about a dozen times in my life, and many of the aircraft look like they haven't moved an inch in 40 years. They also keep growing and building new hangars, so there is new stuff there every couple years. If you are interested in ordering really high quality furniture, visit Holmes County on the way there or back. They have the most amazing Amish-made furniture there, but order/lead time is around 5-6 months or so. They also have fantastic Amish restaurants (my favorites are Mrs Yoder's in Mt Hope and Der Dutchman in Walnut Creek). LOTS of home-baked bread, cookies, etc. Skip the food if you are worried about calories. Restaurants - do they have Bob Evans there in PA? I LOVE the breakfasts there (pretty sure they serve breakfast all day). I haven't lived in Ohia for 30+ years, so I'm not really sure what kind of 'special' restaurants are in that area. They have the "Barn Restuarant" right at Sauders that has homestyle cooking as well as a all you can eat buffet. Good food and reasonably priced. Also have a bakery there to pick up some good cinnamon rolls. May be some good eats in near by Archbold OH but not sure. Enjoy. It's 35 minutes from our house. Cool place. Make sure you visit Father John's in nearby Bryan. Really cool brewery/restaurant in a former church. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

Thanks for the suggestions! Father John's sounds interesting. A chili dog, or three, is a good quick bite for lunch
