I have the skills to de-escalate a situation. You also need to have the intelligence to decide when verbal communication has run its course and others are in jeopardy. I watched the video several times and was frankly surprised that deadly force was not used. The officer did a great job. I would not be surprised if another department offered him employment because of this episode.

Second that! Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark. “If in winning a race, you lose the respect of your fellow competitors, then you have won nothing” - Paul Elvstrom "The Great Dane" 1928 - 2016

If you're not with them, you must be against them. That "supervisor" is on the side of the criminals. WTF is wrong with him? _____________

Welcome to my world. The CPD is preaching the "de-escalation" to the officers here. I get the overall picture, but the way it's being taught here.... Someone is going to hesitate and second guess when they should be reacting. That's going to get an officer seriously hurt or killed. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. This just re-enforces the belief you don't have to obey the police and if they do anything about it you'll get a payout. ____________________________________________________ The butcher with the sharpest knife has the warmest heart.

... new mayor, new PD chief ... still under a DOJ label for excessive force ... and a city council that is hell bent on socialism. Nope, not much hope for that thin blue line, but to stay out of media and attention and try to get their excellent work done; and to go home safe at the end of shift ... my city - City of Kirkland PD - has a different policy, very responsive and stop/shutdown misbehavior and offensives real fast. Only thing I see wrong might be they didn't stop him earlier. As far as the takedown/tackle whatever I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. I have no idea what else they could have done besides maybe use a taser or just shot him. While an ice ax wouldn't be my first or even second choice for a weapon I would certainly consider it to be deadly. No way would I like to take the spike on one of those to the head for anywhere. This guy played stupid games and is very lucky all he got a tackled. He had every chance to put down the ax. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. The charges are being brought by the supervisor? Holy crap! My guess this is a personal beef and the supervisor has the means to make the cop's life miserable. I hope he's exonerated and the supervisor gets labeled as a total hoser. P229

If they suspend him every cop in Seattle should call in sick those 2 days. Deescalate that pussies. Furthermore he didn’t tackle him he gave him a nice hug...I thought these libtards like hugs. They hug trees and stuff all the time. _______________________________________________ Use thumb-size bullets to create fist-size holes.

I've known and had "supervisors" like that. The aren't worth the sweat off a K-9's scrotum! Notice how the supervisor is allowed to hide behind the anonymity of the news report. His name and rank should be public knowledge so concerned citizens could let him/her know what we think of their "supervisory skills" and methods... PUSSY! If anyone in the PS area can get the name, I'd love to have it so that I could let them know my level of non-support as a retired LEO. If you don't want to do it publicly here, my e-mail is in my profile... Don _______________________ Living the Dream... One Day at a Time.

+1. Also remember that Seattle is under a consent decree due to Holder's DOJ coming up with “unconscious bias” and “implicit bias” during the Just Us Department's investigation of the Seattle PD. Seattle cops were automatically assumed to be guilty of thought crimes. Yep, in that type of environment (Consent Decree), I can see a SJW house cat (house cat is an officer/supervisor who stays at the station all shift and has total street patrol time measured in minutes or hours) supervisor filing a complaint against the officer. CPD SIG, you and the other Chicago cops have seen it happen a couple times, based on what I have read on the Second City Cop Blog.
