Gracie Allen is my personal savior! |
As you can imagine given that this is a Politico article on the Democrats' violating an article of faith, a great deal has been excised above for the sake of brevity and clarity. Some sentences have also been compressed into paragraphs for the sake of space. Full, original text at http://www.yahoo.com/news/dccc...-over-090150746.html Normally I'd say that the Dems were smart to shake this out (if it actually needs shaking out) this far ahead of the next elections. Consider, though: how much will this fuel the pointless arguing and finger-pointing among the Twenty Dwarves running for the Democratic Presidential nomination, and how much more does this give AOC and company in the way of legs? This could definitely be yet another dose of fun that keeps on giving in a number of different ways, and every last bit of it is entirely self-imposed. The potential joker in the deck? Pelosi has been relying pretty heavily on the Congressional Black Caucus to take the heat from AOC, Ilhan, and the rest of the Squall Squad off of her back. Perhaps this is where one of the bills comes due? Either way it turns out, I'd like to thank the Democrat Congressional Caucus for engaging in such a spectacularly damaging and pointless waste of time, thus helping to set the stage for a Republican takeover of the House of Representatives in the next election.

DCCC chair is Cheri Bustos (whose husband is Sheriff of Rock Island County), she is the US Rep on the IL side of the IA/IL Quad Cities. The local paper printed this on the front page today: https://qctimes.com/news/local...b8-0c68c77774e7.html Bustos cancels events to address crisis at DCCC SARAH HAYDEN shayden@qconline.com Jul 30, 2019 Updated 1 hr ago WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-Moline, is coming under attack for her leadership of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, its lack of diversity among high-ranking members and the lack of outreach among Latino voters. Bustos, who is chairwoman of the DCCC, made an unplanned trip back to Washington on Sunday in an effort to quiet the criticism, canceling events scheduled for Monday in Monmouth, Rock Island and Keithsburg. Bustos' speedy return to the capital comes days after the House went into an extended summer recess. Bustos was scheduled to hold a press conference at 10 a.m. at Laborers' Local 309 Hall, 2835 7th Ave., Rock Island, to speak about the newly passed federal minimum wage bill — the Raise the Wage Act — and pension legislation called the Butch Lewis Act. The DCCC is the campaign arm of the party, and works to fund raise, campaign and elect Democrats. Bustos was elected chairwoman in November. Jared Smith, DCCC communications director, could not be reached for comment Monday. Bustos has agreed to undergo diversity and inclusion training with the organization's employees in August in an effort to calm criticism. DCCC Executive Director Allison Jaslow announced her resignation on her Twitter account Monday afternoon amid demands for her termination from Democratic lawmakers. "As I told the team today, they are without a doubt the most talented group of people I've ever worked with in my life," Jaslow wrote on Twitter. "It was an honor and a true privilege to work with them every day and know with confidence that the Democratic house majority will be protected with their relentless dedication, and under the leadership of Chairwoman Bustos." Meanwhile, the National Republican Congressional Committee took to Twitter Monday to mock Bustos' quick return to Washington. NRCC members posted photos of balloons tied to a box of Kleenex left on the steps of the Democratic National Headquarters on Capital Street, followed by a Tweet of a GIF image showing Bustos entering the DCCC office, which is engulfed in flames. Bustos endured criticism in recent months when she announced the DCCC would not support Democratic candidates who challenged incumbent Democratic lawmakers, drawing the ire of progressive Democrats.

So there were more ethnic people than whites it would be OK to call them out on that until they increased the number of white people they had? (rhetorical) Didn't one of the more prominent black leftist representatives just say last week that we (conservatives) only want people who look like us in office?

The Balkanization of the Democrat Party while it races left pandering to every special interest group in the country—except one: working and retired middle class. I recall that some years ago a Dem presidential candidate (Algore?), incorrectly translated the motto E Pluribus Unum, and said it meant, “Out of one, many.” [sic] It’s happening for real. Before our eyes the Dems have forsaken those who USED to be their base. Nothing but good for us conservatives. Nothing but good. _______________________________________________________ despite them

From the article in the OP, it appears that Bustos tried to defend herself by pointing out that her husband is of Mexican ancestry, claiming that made her children Mexican-American, and mentioning that one of her children is about to marry someone who's black. "Diversity by association"? Yes, these people are legitimately insane.

Anytime I hear something like this about how poeple "agree to undergo diversity training" I can't help but think of the scene from A Clockwork Orange where he is strapped into the chair with his eyelids held open...

Indeed. I watch their behaviour and just shake my head in bemusement. "America is at that awkward stage. Remember this the next time some freak or loser makes it onto the ballot as a Republican, folks. There's nothing wrong with bemoaning - loudly - the fact that the Repubs came up with a bad candidate, but it can't be the end of the world when the opposition has disappeared that far up the terminal end of its own collective digestive system.
