AOL joined with Yahoo to become oath. They're hoping to combine member lists. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I got that for Yahoo as well. Apparently Oath, which is part of Verizon, merged Yahoo and AOL all together to mine more data, Means more SPAM. “Posterity! You will never know how much it cost the present Generation to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it.” ― John Adams "Fire can be our friend; whether it's toasting marshmallows, or raining down on Charlie." - Principal Skinner.

Optimistic Cynic |
Many organizations ae redoing their privacy policies right now because of GDPR, regulations imposed by the EU on any firm that does business there. It is worth researching if only to see the potential scope of a govt. entity's power in the interconnected world in which we live.

Peace through superior firepower |
Yes, we've been through this very recently with our host. That stuff doesn't have anything to do with us, yet we were offered some choices of how to respond to GDPR (moving to a new and snowflake-friendly platform, for instance). I told them that this stuff is not our problem and all I have for these people is an endless reservoir of contempt. When it comes to the European Union, I have mixed emotions that our continents are separated by a vast ocean. On the one hand, I am ever so grateful that these weirdos are nowhere near us, but on the other hand, they're out of rifle range. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023
