I’ve been looking at some new cars (well Certified preowned anyway) and like the looks and compactness of the Acura RDX SUV. Anyone have one or like their Acura in general? I’ve had Hondas and Toyotas and they’ve been pretty much bulletproof and that’s what I’m looking for as in my mind Acura is a glorified Honda so it should be just as reliable I would think. Anyway let me know your thoughts thanks!
Brother just bought the 2018 base model, loves it. My neighbor has a 2014 model and she really likes it. They have a very peppy engine for such a compact SUV. I've had a TSX since 2010, daughter now drives it, very nice car and has been reliable. Only issue I have with Acuras is their leather isn't all that plush. My brother's base RDX has the faux leather (i.e. what we used to call vinyl) seats but they do a fairly good impersonation of real leather seats. Hopefully those will hold up a little better than the actual leather in some of the older Acuras.
My brother and S-I-L are on their 2nd one. Nothing wrong with the first...they just wanted a newer model and traded in the first one. I've heard zero complaints from my S-I-L, who drives it as her primary vehicle. I also have a flight attendant friend who bought a 2017 late in 2016 and loves hers. Seems like a good auto...

My wife has a 2017 RDX with the tech package. We had also looked a the new CRV, but it had a 4 cylinder engine vs the v6 in the RDX.
It has been a great ride so far (it replaced a TL that was great). The 2019 model is going to be a significant update, so you may be able to get a good deal on a new ‘18.

I bought the first year of manufacture Acura Legend and had to pry my wife out of it when the time came. Now we just bought a 2018 MDX, which replaced a 2015 Toyota Highlander.
No comparison, Acura wins hands down. Drives like a sports car, great gas mileage, quiet, and fun.

Test drive one today and it was nice, though I felt like I couldn’t get the seat elevated enough for the best vantage out of the windshield. Also pickup/acceleration was decent though not as quick as I had hoped. Perhaps I need to try a newer model as this one was a few years old. Was a sweet handling ride though and tight, with a great turn radius.
I had a 2014 which was great. My wife still has her 14 MDX too, and loves it.
The new 2019 RDX should hit showrooms in August, and is a total redesign. Folks on Acurazine are stoked. It answers the few complaints people had on the current version and is a true step up.

Bought an ‘06 MDX in ‘08; still have it. Was so impressed that I bought last year a ‘16 TLX. Acura will always now be my default brand...who knows, I may get swayed by something else in the future, but Acura will always be the one to beat.

As long as you keep expectations in check, you should be fine. One of the best cars I've ever owned was a 2001 Acura Integra. Not only was it rock solid reliable, it was one of the funnest to drive vehicles I've ever had. I almost pulled the trigger multiple times on a first gen Acura TSX, but could not make the finances work.
Fast forward to the 2016 Acura ILX. It was the updated model with the DSG. It had a powertrain that wanted to play with a lifeless chassis. Absolutely soulless. They're solid cars with a lot of great features, but the fun to drive is gone. If you're wanting a car with a lot of options, there's nothing wrong with them. If you want something fun to drive with a lot of features and bulletproof reliability, I'd check out last year's Infiniti OX50.

Wife is still driving her 2008 that we bought new. 170k on it and still going strong. The AWD and turbo 4 cylinder are great. Once we get her a new vehicle later this year (need a third row) I fully expect to drive the thing as a commuter vehicle (way better gas mileage than my 05 F-150) for many years.
Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.
